I agree with JCrag and Sbroads that Hall is still driving play at a borderline elite level but the pucks have not been going in.

Given his age we do have to take into account what his value would look like going forward.

If we are talking retaining him on a 4-5 year term at 7M I would retain him personally and get him some help.

There are a lot of moving parts with this franchise though. If Eichel demands out then no, I don’t see the point of keeping Hall.

He’s getting chances like most good players will. It’s the great players that can convert on these chances on a regular basis that are worth 8 mil. He’s not worth over 4 on a 2 or 3 year contract. He’s a guy I would be really concerned about any long term contract with him because it could get a little better with him or could be a lot worse.

Fact, he had 2 seasons over 65 points.
That's it.

He has played 10 seasons, not counting this one.
Over those 10 seasons, there have been 773 games (8x82 + 48 + 69)
He has played in 81% of them at 627, including seasons with 65, 61, 75, 53, 72.
He also sustained a major injury costing him 49 games in 1 season...I don't hold that against him.
He misses significant games nearly every year over 10 seasons, he played 1 full season of 82 games, who cares if he's on pace for 82..he produces less because he misses games.

So, over 10 seasons including this season, let's take out his worst and best seasons, leaving equivalent of 8 full seasons ( counting 26 games this season + 48 in '12-'13 shortened season as 1 full season)
