Even if you think Skinner is an overpaid bum, is it really useful to scratch him or play him sparingly with bad offensive players? There's just nothing about this approach that makes any sense. The team can't score at even strength, and you have this guy who has a track record of doing so, but Ralph is mad at him.

No it is not useful to scratch him. This situation has gotten worse than I expected.

This is the second year in a row where Skinner has been awful.

He's making 9 million. Regardless of what the coach thinks of him, He needs to be able to score goals on his own if he is a good as may on here say he is.

I remember a time where Ovechkin sucked at defense supposedly.. I don’t think the coach parked him on the fourth line. Instead he just stopped playing him with 3/4 minutes to go while protecting a one goal lead that Ovechkin helped build. But what do I know, it’s not like Skinner has eerily close to Ovechkin ES production since he entered the league or anything

There absolutely is, The coach is not helping the situation at all.

But this is 2 1/2 years of Skinner being average to below average.

Somethign has to give, I don't know what that is.

You can go back to the end of last year and the summer i was banging this drum that the Sabres are in trouble where this Skinner situation was heading.

I will start banging it now. IF Skinner cant get figure out and the Sabres go in to next year with 15 Million dollars in boat anchor contract between Skinner and Okpsoso you might as well jsut cancel the season.

The coach has purposely sabotaged any chance of him coming remotely close to playing to that contract (which he never was anyways)

But hey, Kyle Okposo will play tonight and so will Cody Eakin.

Skinner has 1 assist this year. He's not really helping out much.

Issue is coupled with he’s playing on the fourth line. Take out his salary for just one second. 3 goals from a fourth liner is pretty solid in 15 games. That’s roughly 16/17 goals on the year from a fourth liner. Now put his salary back in and feel like you wanna throw up. Either way, we’re stuck with him for a while.

It would take a total mutiny by the players - a complete abandonment of the system - to get them to score more

This scoring slump isn't a bug - it's a feature of Krueger's system. They're supposed to play low event hockey, score one goal at even strength, and go 2/4 on the PP. Dump, cycle, point shot. Dump, cycle, point shot.

I don't totally agree with that, don't like Ralph's system what ever it is at all, but they have had some very good scoring chances, I mean they have probably hit 20 goalposts this year, Jesus Olofsson has probably hit 10 himself, they have shot wide, high, or in Miller's case everything but the net. They need to look,in the mirror to.

It wants to dump, cycle, point shot until it maybe gets a goal every 30 times or it draws a penalty. "Look in the mirror" is great coach speak, but the players are playing the system. The system is boring as (frank) and does not prioritize offense

This is the point that makes skinners benching seem ridiculous, that line gets caved in every game but never even gets split up, let alone someone on the line being scratched.
