We all seen what he has done. I hated the Eriksson signing and Sven .
Some of his deals piss people off. Most everyone said Sutter is useless and today they are saying he is a good shut down guy trade for a second
Roussels career ends and they bring in a replacement that is similar Lind. - VANTEL
Eriksson was a 60 point player and GM's were still freely giving out contracts like his. It wasn't just JB but they have somewhat smartened up now.
Sutter is not a 3lc in the league anymore. I have trouble believing he would fetch even a late 2nd even if he has strung together a good performance over a period of time, I wouldn't pay it but I've seen GM's give out more for less. |

I’m sure he’s sick of losing, but he’s been in the league five years, he needs to STFU and work hard. Stop whining and play.
Not many guys come into the league as a second overall pick and start winning immediately. I’ve said this before, took Sakic eight seasons to win a Cup, seven to just make the playoffs I think. Mario Lemieux won in his seventh year.
Kids are so entitled, they want everything right now these days. Things are bad in Buffalo like they were for the Nordiques for years, with the right manager I’m sure they’ll get better. - Pacificgem
JB has talked about character in almost every player he has drafted in the first round. The right mentality to do what it takes to win. |

Yzerman had 9 years at the helm of the lightning.
Benning will never be un fireable to me, he just has to make the right moves for the future of the club. - manvanfan
To me, after seven years, he’s not proven himself to good at enough at enough aspects of the position that I want him to continue. That’s my personal opinion. |

I fully understand why they did it but I am sure you remember my stance on trying to extend the Sedins career. It was well documented here
I think for the most part GMs are learning to stay away from long burdensome contracts. Only a few GMs did it this year. |

My buddy Ray Ferraro, your favourite commentator lol, said he would trade Pearson and look to sign someone in free agency as he feels the flat cap is going to push some good players out and you can probably get them on good one year deals.
Basically he was saying Benning saying he was going to try and re-sign Pearson is ridiculous and rot with short sightedness. |

Aside from drafting, he's not the guy who will take them to the next level.

Whiffed on Tryamkin in that regard. But yes, an important trait to be looking for. After talent that is. |

I’ve said both positive and negative things on Benning, at this point after seven years I’m ready for a change though, I’ve had enough of his stupidity.
That said, you’re 100% correct, all the losing has brought in some great draft picks, something Benning has clearly been good at. - Pacificgem

That was actually mentioned on HNIC also I think, half listening. You said it a few days ago a lot of free agents are going to be disappointed when the market opens.
A few teams even the Canucks took advantage of it last year (Hamonic)
I would go that route also but I also keep in mind Horvat Pearson and Jake kept Matthews off the scoresheet two games in a row and did very well in one of the Winnipeg games.
I would only sign him 2 years

Just my thoughts but you’ve gotta keep one eye on the present one on the future, so what they did last night is meaningless to me, you gotta trade Pearson for at least a 3rd to get a possible future asset.
Sign a free agent and/or move Pettersson to Horvat’s LW if he’s not going to be able to take faceoffs in his third year. |

I wasn’t sure on that but I let it be as I’m watching golf and everyone knows I’m not that bright anyway |

I actually wish someone would have asked Ray who did he have in mind?
The idea sounds great but there are 32 teams going to look for that 20 goal scorer for a mil and it is probably pretty unlikely to happen for even a third or a tenth of the teams.
There is not a long list of twenty goal scorers next year for free agency and the ones like Hoffa you won't be getting for 2 mil.

He didn’t have anyone in mind as you don’t know who’s actually going to be pushed out due to a flat cap.
Nothing says you can’t re-sign Pearson in the summer. |
