He didn’t have anyone in mind as you don’t know who’s actually going to be pushed out due to a flat cap.
Nothing says you can’t re-sign Pearson in the summer. - Pacificgem
I don't have a problem of committing two years if the price is right.
I would hold out to see bottom six players to fill in for guys like Roussel. Top six is a little trickier. By the time you circle back they may sign elsewhere

Bobby Orr was offered almost 20% ownership of the Bruins but his agent talked him out of it. He signed with Chicago and played 26 games.
His agent is pretty famous and this deal is one of the reasons he was taken to court. Bobby Orr got screwed by his agent like many did at the time. |

As of right now this is how I see things for next year...
Hoglander Miller Boeser
Pettersson Horvat ???
Podkolzin ??? Virtanen/Gaudette
Gadjovich/Roussel Beagle Lind/Motte
Need an NHL caliber third line center and a top six winger. |

Bobby Orrs book is a great read. It was more than talking him out of it....he never told him because the agent was friends with Chicago and was getting a kickback if he convinced Orr to go there....
One of the owners came in when Bobby Orr was working out to try and talk to him and tell im the offer in person. Bobby admitted he kicked him out and didn't want to go around his agent (that's how brain washed he was)
Cost him a lot. It's 1 of the reasons he went in to be an agent, didn't want others to get screwed over like he did. |

Anyone who is so stubborn they have one plan in life and stick to it at all costs, is quite frankly, an idiot
My plans change all the time as the world is constantly changing and evolving. I’m just guessing what will actually happen with the team. |

I’m just guessing what Benning and his band of brothers will do. Day by day lol.
Honestly, if it were me, I’d trade Miller and retool the entire makeup of the team. Which is probably dumb but I’d explore it. I’d also explore trading Bo Horvat. - Pacificgem
While I don't think trading Horvat would be good, I've championed trading Miller before, mainly due to the Canucks' window and his age/contract. They'll be starting to compete just as his contract ends.
If they could trade Miller for a young stud dman, I'd be all for it. A team like Colorado whose window is now doesn't have as big of a need as Byram for the next 3 years as it does Miller |

The reason I would like Petey off the Miller line is because everyone knows they are trying to set up Petey. As I said you have your best shot on the team (Boeser) as a set up guy. Miller has a very good shot also and needs to shoot more.
Petey is going to get some very serious money soon and he should be able to run a line IMO. I think starting with him and Podz as line two and filling in with a guy with speed a decent shot and tenacity will let Canucks run with three strong lines.
It would be much better than a Sutter Gaudette and Michaelis
- VANTEL
Like I said, I'd love to see that the rest of the year. It'd be easier to make those judgements in the summer if they know if those three centers could carry their own lines. |

I’d be good with that Colorado deal. And I wouldn’t trade both Miller and Horvat, just one or the other. JT Miller seems to play really well at center. |
