Jeff Paul: Game Six: Fleury or Lehner?
On the brink of elimination, the Vegas Golden Knights need to decide if Marc-Andre Fleury is their man or if they should roll the dice with the younger, fresher Robin Lehner. |

It doesn't matter, can they create enough offensive chances and convert on any of them? That's what will decide this. |

When the other team won’t allow goals, you can’t either. Regardless of the offense, it’s won and lost in net. Goalie choice will ALWAYS matter. |

but he can’t be expected to be prime Fleury at this point of the year
I disagree. He's playing a lot closer to "Prime Fleury" than the Vegas revival Fleury recently. |

I see Pete De Boer going back to Lehner for this one. |
|
|
|
But as a Habs fan Id rather them face Fleury in Montreal. |

Since I was wrong about DeBoer sticking with Lehner after Game 4, I honestly have no idea what direction he'll go in goal for Game 6. If it were me, I'd stick with MAF in Game 6, but my gut says DeBoer will go back to Lehner in MTL. If Vegas wins, Lehner would also be in goal in Game 7 back in Vegas. |

Should have started Lehner last game. Stick with the goalie until he loses or is injured. |

Well yours isn't ...

Both goalies have been more than adequate. Problems are at forward. Where’s nine million man Mark Stone for starters? Go through the lineup. Not enough of anything. Shocking to see the Habs taking it to them |

I'm a big Mark Stone fan but he was coasting a half step behind Caufield on his 1 timer goal from Perry and it isn't the first time I've seen him do this. A tiny bit of hustle and he can get there for a stick lift
In the series clincher against the Sharks a few years back, Goodrow basically walked right around him while he was coasting and went cross crease for the GWG |

If it wasn’t obvious to management before it should be after this year is over which looks to be soon.
Get rid of a goalie, and use that extra cap space to supplement some offensive skill on this team. |

Vegas needs Cody Glass to pan out and be the 1C or the 3C that can provide offense (Glass with Stone/Patches and Stephenson with Tuch/?? or swap Glass/Stephenson)
Karlsson/Reilly and Marchessault have been invisible this series

Lehner slow on the cross crease - Fleury has that |
|

Well there it is. Mistakes, bad breaks, and key guys couldn’t break through. Rough one to see end that way in OT. |

This likely happens. Don’t think DeBoer wants one of them after all |

That hurts. Just not good enough.
Congrats to the Habs good luck in the Finals. This may be as big a Cinderella run as VGK in their first year. |

He’s still young, and could still pan out but it’s looking less and less likely. I mean the fact he couldn’t get into any games after Stephenson went down tells you where he is currently in the pecking order.
Looks like they traded away the wrong youn center. Suzuki looking like a stud and doing it in big games.
The only reason this won’t be worse than the Forsberg deal by McPhee is because Pacioretty still has a few good years left where Erat was out the league a few years after the trade. |
