Ya, kinda like last season, when your boy Garland was a 5v5 darling, but still sucked. - Reubenkincade
He was streaky as hell, but at the end of the day he was one of the best 5v5 producers on the team so that means a lot of the other forwards must've really sucked
I'd rather load up on 5v5 producers than have more powerplay specialists, we already have too much money tied up in those.
But at this point I don't care, this core just isn't good enough. I'll look forward to the idiots in the fanbase/media who start celebrating and puffing their chests when Demko gets going and this team is back on track to mediocrity again, that's always good for a laugh.
His results are both there and not there depending at the time frame you look at.
Ok we agree that the PP strategy isn't good. So it only makes sense that any running success or running failure falls on hot and cold players. Logical when considering a poor PP strategy. - boonerbuck
We agree the PP isn't as exciting as we'd like it to be or doesn't fit our "vision", but that doesn't mean the strategy is bad. Washington's PP strategy for years was "let Ovi one time it"... simple? Sure. Effective? Yes.
Your assertion about hot and cold players making it a success or a failure is the entire league. I would love to know a team that consistently schemes goals when all the players on it are cold – that would effectively mean being able to plug in 4th liners and have them score because the system is that great. That's not a thing.
Again, we might not like the strategy, but it's results driven that it isn't a poor strategy.

I wouldnt mind loading up on defenders, Hughes is the only one worth keeping. Between the giraffe and Old-E-L i almost threw my tv set through the wall 50 times this year. We literally havd one top4 calibre dman.

The PP strategy is simple, and literally the same as every other team in the league. Put your 5 most creative players out. Pass pass pass pass shoot. They have three viable options: Miller to Horvat in the slot; Miller or Hughes to Pettersson for the one timer; or Hughes from the point and hope for a tip or a rebound.
Remember in the old timey days when two defensemen would just fire bombs from the point and some fearless forward would stand in front and try not to get killed?
If the Canucks had a better option for the around the net guy than Pearson right now maybe they would have the option of that cross crease back door play, but that would require them playing against a team that was as inept defensively as they are…
“I used to be a hardcore fan I honestly don’t really care about the #Canucks anymore. This isn’t even a likeable team. The games are just boredom interspersed with misery and why would I want to subject myself to that 82 days a year? They need to figure out their poop.”

Wow, this guy was a hard core slurper always looking on the bright side of things. The fan base is really getting low.
