Then it's backfiring. Every game he plays makes it look dumber and dumber. Might be better to hide him and hope people forget for the time being. - boonerbuck
Lest we forget
I still remember a third-round pick for 17 games of Dermott
We never forget. |

Comes back to having the worst pro scouting in the league. Puzzling acquisition. Ya don’t care about the 2nd though and I hated D!ck. It’s the Boeser signing that really screwed the team |

The Boeser signing definitely hurt, but for a team with next to nothing in the way of prospects, that 2nd hurts.
It is just becoming an accumulation of errors, when it comes to straightening out this team.
I understand people's frustration over Di ckinson, but he had a hand issue most of last season, so I cut him some slack. |

Immediately moving a capable C over $1.65m cap space saved stung them. They had to give Lazar a bigger role which isn't why he was brought in and then he got injured followed by them making moves and trading assets to fill the holes.
We both agree that cap maneuvering could have been solved in large part by not committing to Boeser. Kuzmenko and Mikheyev will far exceed what he brings.
1.65m cap space < 6.65M cap space

D!ck had to go. He is brutal and not a center. At least is a 2nd in a worst draft |

Pretty sure I saw a tweet that said over the last decade, the Canucks have made the fewest 2nd round picks(think it was them in last or 2nd last?). A round where a lot of quality dmen are usually available since first rounds tend to be more forward-biased on average.
Glad to know this management team is keeping that same trend going |

Bruce said he had a good camp. He didnt stand out to me but that goes both ways... he didnt look like he was dragging his ass like last season either. In the end, Bruce was right, he was set to redeem himself as he's doing for another team while this one has failed to fill in the hole... however insignificant we thought it was.

They could have put in in the AHL and bought him out next year dirt cheap.
Brisebois is one of the few players that has gone the proper route for development, and it appears he is ready.

I am a big believer that if you take a forward in the 1st, you take a defenseman, or a good goalie in the 2nd.
Canucks haven't had many opportunities to do that. |

He was focusing on his defensive structure, probably why he got traded. |

D!ckinson was good in the role of a shut down C before Van acquired him. Then he had a poor season(playing injured for much of last season). Followed by a great start this season. He didnt have to go... his replacements are lesser players... and even the small cap saving has already been tapped into to replace him. It's not even 1.65 anymore....
You have a terrible habit of basing things on smaller sample sizes. Look how many write offs you declared last season and many of them returned to form. That was over one poor season. In the case of Petey he's still showing he is growing and maturing as a 1st line player. He has been fantastic this season. I think he's rolling along at 1.35 ppg or something.

Just draft centers/dmen only, good wingers are so much easier to acquire compared to good centers/dmen. |

Often a C prospect that doesn't live up to expectation ends up still being useful on the wing. Something to fall back on but rarely does it happen the other way round. |

Sort of.
That's how you end up with Nedved instead of Jagr |
