That's not all of it and that is a lot of incompetence for less than a year on the job. Good fkn grief.... - boonerbuck
Agreed.
When they hired this group, I reserved judgement until the draft, I didn't like what I saw/didn't see. |

I didnt know what to expect when they were hired. Thought better than Benning at the very least based on experience and past record... but at this rate... I doubt it.

No, Bruce isn't technically to blame, but he is the one that chooses to put some horrible defensive players on the ice, during important times of the game. - Reubenkincade
I wonder if that .417 coaching is what Lunky meant by the Bruce bump?

Well they aren’t trading JT 🤷♂️ let’s focus on the trash we can realistically hope these idiots will trade. Brock Kuzy Bo and Myers - CanuckDon
Myers is due a $5m bonus payment this summer, and then only $1m salary next season. Nobody is taking that contract this year. |

Rutherford and Allvin:
Option on Bruce strike 1
Not trading Miller strike 2
Signing Miller to 8m until 37 y/o strike 3
Not trading Boeser and signing him strike 4
Using cap for forwards instead of D help strike 5
Trading pics for garbage strike 6
Drafting soft Swedish winger in the 1st round strike 7
I tell you what, if they start moving players for picks and prospects etc.. I am scared sh!tless of what it will all look like when the smoke clears.
- boonerbuck
Some of that is definitely off side. But are you saying you would have been on board if they signed Ben Chiarot, Eric Gudbranson or Troy Stecher instead?
If Aquilini hired you or I for $1m/year to stand behind PA/JR with a yard stick and slap them with every time they suggest something stupid he would save billionz! |

That -11 by both him and Miller is going to be hard not to notice. - Reubenkincade
As you said if you put high skilled offence players with defensively responsible. You can get a return like Buffalo did for Eichel. |

Do you think anyone will take Miller's or Boesers contract this year?
How about OEL or Mikheyev?
This team is loaded, with immovable players. |

Yes, I honestly believe that there is a team that would have signed Miller to that same deal, and would trade for him. I don’t think what the Canucks get back is all that impressive, but it could be done. Boeser also in a better system could look good. Mark Stone can’t skate worth poop but yet is a very good player. With better coaching Boeser could round out his game.
OEL isn’t going anywhere… |

Somewhere in the middle of the "Our players are awesome" and "Our players are absolute trash" crowds would be nice.
Just seeing what a decent return for Bo to the Islanders would look like.
Islanders paid a 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Pageau in 2020 when he had 24 goals 40 points in 60 games for the Sens.
So for Bo I'd say 1st in 23', Bolduc (who was a 2nd), 3rd in 23', Dufour, and Bailey for the cap.
Which hopefully they can increase Bailey's value and when he's expiring next season get a mid round pick for him then. |

What some fans don't seem to realize is that there really isn't that many good 200' foot players in the league.
Horvat get's selke noms..... If he is a top 30 defensive forward in the league.... yikes. Sorry, no he was 34th in Selke last season. Still. I don't really regard him as a defensive player. Mr minus 11 this season Miller had more votes than Bo.
Scoring is still what teams will pay for. If you can do that, someone will trade for you even if you suck defensively. |

Mark Stone, although not a good skater, has always been a good 2 way player, which is quite a bit different than Boeser.
Miller, I believe, would have to have some retention or a bad contract attached.
OEL, I agree, he isn't going anywhere. |

J.T. Miller has been on the ice for four even-strength goals against tonight.

Stop being so negative.
Would like to congratulate JT Miller on picking up his 1st 5 on 5 assist of the season!!

I really hope that the Canucks ignore most of what the amateur scouts say at the draft and listen to what the analytics guys have to say. Enough of "he can really shoot the puck". Need players that drive play whether it be a top 6 or a bottom 6. Defenders that can defend the front of the net and the blue line.
Who the (frank) in the pro scouting department though that OEL would be a good addition. Not the analytics guys, that's for sure. |

I think what some fans don't understand is what a 200' player is.
Some tend to attach it to players who score points and contribute defensively, some attach it to players who have good puck possession numbers and others attach it to players who are constantly aware of, and capable of being good positional players.
Right now, the Canucks currently have 3 solid 200' players and 2(Lazar and Aman) of them are playing on the 4th line, the other being Pouty, who has improved his 200' game, immensely. |

I dunno man, Mark Stone was a long shot to stick in the NHL. Do you honestly believe that if Boeser had been drafted by the Bruins, coached by Cassidy, playing along side Bergeron/Marchand with Chara etc that he would be the same player he is today with the Canucks?
I also think that there are probably 6 teams that would and could trade for Miller, but like I said, I doubt the Canucks are getting a lot for him. Though, I didn’t think they would get a lot when he was on a bargain contract with 99 points and one year remaining. |
