Alphonso missing that penalty kick shifted the game. If he made that I doubt they come back. - Retinalz
They should’ve had a second free kick but it was missed. But yes, gotta score on those. |

It even got reviewed and they didn't give it to us. |

next year becomes development, you don't draft this year and expect anyone outside if our top 3 pick (hopefully) to make an impact in 23-24. Keep OEL to eat hard minutes for a season and then buy him out. saves 1 year of penalty as well when we are actually competing. - Retinalz
Sorry, that is ass backwards IMO.
Tank this year draft top 3 (NHL ready).
Trade Bo for a player like Byram or another Dman NH ready.
I would ask Arizona if they want Hughes and Miller locked in long term. Chychryn and one of their prospects like Coolie. Trade Kuz for a first at TDL. Buyout OEL. You have first round picks , near ready prospects and freed up 30 mil in cap.
Again, I don't see a reason to install a two-year plan for something they can do this year. That said Ownership says nyet.

Ya, but we know you're not like the idiots who would devalue pieces like Hughes and Demko just to dump some cap. Really OEL is the only trade asset with negative value that is worth dumping. Myers has value (prob only a 3rd, but value nonetheless), Boeser, Horvat, Miller all have value. Trade those 4 and you free up over 26m in cap next year and no need to use it other than to weaponize it. Even if Miller can't be traded, that is still 18m in cap and will be replaced with ELC's or players we get to help teams in need (and get assets for our troubles) - Retinalz
I would do it t dump OEL. Myers I would just hold and sell next year at the TDL with retention as an expiring UFA. Miller you trade for a lesser expensive player who's contract expires within the next 2-3 seasons and whatever sweetener you can get.

Ya, that was pretty surprising - Reubenkincade
The other fastest defensemen to 200 points in the league are as follows:
Sergeo Zubov, 207 games played
Brian Leetch, 211
Phil Housley, 212
Denis Potvin, 212
Mark Howe, 216
Bobby Orr, 216 |

And yet his brothers still bug him for playing on one of the worst teams in the NHL.

You aren't getting a Byram for Bo, or Nemec. We are getting a guy like Shakir, Ceulmans, etc. They will still be a couple years away. Unless we use the assets we get in trades to speed up next season (big mistake, it's what we always do and i fails, then you complain we did it), we need to plan for next year being a lost year, and the assets we get being a couple years away.
30m in space to spend in FA isn't going to "fix" this team. Arizona isn't trading us Coolie and I doubt they want Hughes and Miller. Kuz I would sign (would go a long way to getting EP to sign long term) as he has chemistry with EP. If he wont't sign, then yes trade his ass. |

OEL isn't waiving to a team that will take him, we either keep him or buy him out. No other options exist. Myers needs to be the trade on the back end for cap. |

Canucks with 30 mil in cap room go after Myers and Edler.
Rangers with 30 mil in cap get Panarin.
NJD get Hamilton. |

You can’t fix this in one year. You just can’t. Pipe dream. The organization has no prospects to speak of and they still need a young top six center, three NHL caliber defensemen and two wingers with size, speed and skill. You’re not getting that from trading Horvat and Miller. |

I'd look at the buyout then, next group of core players cant have a slow lazy expensive vet on the roster and in the locker room if you want to build a contending team from the ground up |

With where the team is, Trading anything we have to provide a sweetener for is a set back... we should just ride it out or buy out if it is that bad. I hated the OEL trade from the get go. What we gave up should have been Arizona giving to us to take his Awful contract. He was already showing regression for a few seasons and was way overpaid.
The Richardy trade should have been a much lower pick and no stillman. And only if that cap is used to sign say Horvat. Otherwise ride it out.
This trading picks to move contracts just sets us back big time. All that garbage we traded to Arizona were UFA's.

Yup. Anytime this team gets any cap space, they immediately rush to spend it on some overpaid role player. Only time it's been used wisely was when they traded for Miller, who was also viewed as a role player but luckily developed into a top line scorer. |

Tough break for Canada, they looked the better team for most of the game... just lacking so much finish and quality around the box. Was fun to watch, hopefully they can beat Croatia and make a challenge to move on |

It was a good game by the boys. They were the better team. |

They were definitely the better team but couldn’t finish, kinda like Horvat can’t pass 5 on 5 - LeftCoaster
In fairness, Horvat doesn't usually have anyone to pass the puck to, so he has to do it al9ne. |

Think of how many they would have scored against the Canucks. |

tyc.
Got a day off, looking forward to watching the game.
I don't think trading OEL is a realistic option at this point.
Buyout or rideout.
I'm still down with trading any and all of JTM, Bo, Myers, Pearson, Garland this year.
Keep EP40, Hughes. |
