For free why not. I could care less but I won't really get my hopes up. Most won't remember the name Daniel Brickley. I do though, he was a coveted free agent defenders from Minnesota State U. Same story as Livingstone. Now 27 he landed in the Swedish 2nd division and is doing quite well.

There is also the name of Connor Mackey, coveted free agent D from Minnesota state U. Signed in Calgary signed 3 years ago. He's got 14 NHL games over the past 3 seasons.

If you were signing a 21 year old like Chris Tanev. It's quite a bit different than signing a 24 year old.

I wonder if us being able to pretty much guarantee a roster spot will help get him signed here. Contenders will generally force him to the AHL unless he manages to beat someone out for a spot, which isn't easy to do even if you look better in a small sample size.

I don't remember if this has been talked about in here but buying out Pearson saves us 1.8m cap next season and only costs us 916k the season after.

Because that’s been their MO for two decades?

In fact, other than Keenan cleaning house, I don’t recall a time where they admitted they were out of playoff contention by moving players out.
