Tucker Poolman

I stand corrected, 3 players have no value. But I think Poolman will be an LTIRetire. Yet another issue with headaches...

Not in a cap world imo.

I think they are waiting to see how they match up against the Coyotes.
- Reubenkincade

Yeah, they have had too tough of a schedule so far.

That means nothing now. Flat cap yes, but the cap is now expected to start going up every year again. Really, they should have given a free buyout to teams when it became known that there would be a flat cap for 3 years. Players like Garland and Boeser are going to start having more value because of the cap going up. Wasnt the projection to be 10m higher by 25-26 season?

Miller is a great offensive talent but he’s weak defensively and he’s abrasive in the room, at 8 million for seven more years he’s hard to move unless you either eat money or take money back. That in and of itself is negates some of his value. Not all of it, but some of it to where you’re not gonna get full value. That’s what I mean. Not dealing from a position of strength.

I have one dream before the Canucks get more picks and that is to get rid of Delmore, Gradin, Chibisov. There is no point in having more picks if you aren't going to make even half decent picks with them.

Miller is a PPG+ player still in his prime and locked in. You do realize that a great deal of PPG players are bad defensively, right?

Well dud of game. After noting good trends by players they all had a terrible game.

Some teams you just suck at playing against. Caps have always had Canuck’s number.

Under contract until the end of 2024-25, $2,500,000 per.

If he is LTIRetired his cap has no meaning, Like Ferlands essentially. Only thing it prevents is using this year's cap on Bonus's

I don’t think they’d get a good return for him despite my thinking he has value. It’s not easy to move 8 million dollars for seven more years. But someone might, hopefully.

Prior to Covid, locked in Wingers were acquired with value at TDL's and in off season when GM's knew cap was going up. Better to get a good player with term via trade than risk not getting one via FA (or overpaying because cap went up). Cap increase = FA's of the same quality get more money/AAV. Competitive teams would rather trade assets to save cap money and get an equivalent player in return.

I think I remember loving what Benning was doing in the 2014 draft, saying it’s nice to have a real GM who can acquire picks and build a prospect pool. But then he just proceeded to piss it all away over a short period of time.

As much as I hate the idea, if could be a good idea to blow up the team and rebuild, just to start fresh after OEL and his contract are gone. Unless we have an ELC to replace him, buying him out will cost more cap space than it is worth.

They should leave that slug Pearson there as well. Now that Hoglander has solidified himself as a first liner.

The Canucks need to sell pretty much everything and start over, but they won’t, they’ll continue down the mediocrity path of chasing their own tails for many years to come because that’s what the owner wants.

FA shares some blame with Benning there. Hard to GM a team that needs a rebuild when the owner is saying to continue building around an aging core than can't compete anymore. Benning was a bad GM by every means except for a few good picks and a couple good trades. I just don't think any other GM could have done much better of a job with FA in their ear forcing quick fixes.
We definitely need a better scouting department, something JR is not well known for.

Sometimes you have to start all over, even though you thought you had done a rebuild, ie Buffalo, Arizona, sometimes when you have the right players you can do a quick retool on the fly, like Boston and Colorado.
They need to pick a direction and follow it, hopefully without selling more picks.

Because a bubble team makes more money than a bottom team and FA is short sighted. FA is your standard poor person but with money. $1 today is better than $5 tomorrow. Doesn't matter than the $1 will never become $5.
