Trading EP40 and Quinn Hughes would instantly reset the franchise. However. I’m sure they’ll muddle around tweaking the edges and finish 10th last missing yet another drafting opportunity.

Trade them both if it allows you to dump Miller/OEL and maybe even gain some future assets to boot. Fastest way to blow it up and start over.

My definition of a rebuild isn't about finishing in a specific spot in the standings or having to win the draft lotto. It's about making moves with little regard for the next 2-3 years and full focus on the 5-6 years that follow that.

I don't think this franchise has ever had that approach since I've started following them.


Some people think that can't work, that's fine. I wouldn't expect it to be nice and linear or guaranteed to build a contender, but I'd rather try it then do whatever the hell this team has been trying for the last 10 years.

It comes down to the fact that if they actually did a proper rebuild, then being in the lower deck and club seats and sky boxes wouldn't be 'cool' anymore because the team is expected to be garbage and unable to compete. As compared to right now, where they can con season ticket holders that it's just one bad year (every year) and with just a few changes it'll turn around. If the arena starts to be as empty as Arizona's was before they moved to one that actually looks full because of how small and few seats there are, then FA might be facing bankruptcy or at the least having his brothers and father take it away from him because they don't want him to bring the rest down financially.
