I don't think it's by chance that three of the five have all been in the past eleven seasons as the parity in the league gets tighter and tighter due to the cap. That being said, two of those are the LA Kings and I think those two seasons were out of the ordinary, an anomaly if you will, I don't think you'll see a team do what they did again for a very long time!

A lot of rumblings that Boudreau is gone around (just after) the trade deadline if they're clearly out of a playoff spot because they want the new coach to start implementing his systems.

At that point Boudreau and Green's contracts are almost off the books.
Wouldn't say there is a good selection of coaches at the TDL.

Usually the lower seeds that surprise are just bigger/tougher teams built to win lower scoring games, basically the opposite of the Canucks yet this franchise has people convinced that just making the playoffs is enough since the playoffs are basically random.
