Also tough to just lay out a plan with specific moves since we don't know what trades are out there to be made. Best you can do as a fan is comment on general strategy and process.

For sure. I just keep a plan simple because of what you mention.
You trade players when you can and as many as you can.
Of course, this season there will be a flood of similar players, so Canucks won't get as big a return as they would like, but they will find some Swedish pint-sized winger.

Best you can do is look back later in hindsight and pretend that you could have done better by remembering the one thing you would have got right and neglect the 5 things you would have got wrong. Then claim you would have done better than management. (Not "you" specifically but fans)

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports that Ethan Bear and the Vancouver Canucks are expected to talk this week about a potential deal, though there is no guarantee a contract is signed so quickly. Bear has played well for the Canucks since they acquired him at the end of October from the Carolina Hurricanes, and is currently scheduled to become a restricted free agent when his one-year, $2.2MM deal expires.


What does he get on the next deal? Hopefully his agent doesn't use the fact that the Canucks never draft any defence so he will remain in the top 4 for the foreseeable future.
