Good news is Pearson & Demko will be on the road trip to continue the playoff push.

There is a lot of truth in this…

https://canucksarmy.com/n.../in-defence-of-j-t-miller

After reading it much made sense. What I glean from it is BB wants players to be what they are not. Also shows the roster design is very flawed. Nothing new there. Adding to that the F’s are more offence oriented it further strains a poor D corp. There is enough scoring but not nearly enough diggers to do the harder dirty work.

None of the C’s are shutdown types. So what to do about it?

- Nighthawk

Drafting a center that plays well in all situations would have been a good idea.

Instead they have used 2- 1st round picks and a 2- 2nd round pick to trade for wingers. Then drafted 2 wingers.

If you want to be paid as a 1st line player, you better be able to play it.

Canes with Bo

Not really a move they typically make though

- Nucker101

Unless Morrow is coming back, not interested.

Garland and his longer term and less points?
- manvanfan

He at least occasionally drives play and he makes less. He is clearly creating more than passenger Brock

I wouldn't count out the Islanders wanting Bo either. That would be a pretty good 1-2 punch, with Barzal and Bo.
- Reubenkincade

Barzal isn't really taking face-offs in NY either. 4th on the team in face-offs taken. Would be a crazy good set up guy for Bo to score though.

Yeah I see Garland creating and forcing turnovers sometimes. Boeser is strictly a finisher and that's only if he has loooooooots of times to shoot.

I wish the Canucks could learn from Stevie Y. Puts his top scorer on waivers because he doesn’t give a (frank) about feelings and wants to clear his contract. Alpha GM

Raty coming into the season

5. Aatu Räty, C

19 years old | 6-foot-2 | 185 pounds | Shoots left

Drafted: No. 52 in 2021
Tier: Middle of the lineup player

Skating: Below NHL average
Puck skills: NHL average
Hockey sense: NHL average
Compete: Below NHL average
Shot: Above NHL average

Analysis: Räty’s season started off like it did during his draft year, but after a move from Karpat to Jukurit it lit a spark in his game, scoring nearly a point per game in Liiga following the move. Räty has great hands and vision with the puck, showing he can make a lot of plays inside the offensive zone. The best Räty doesn’t show up every night, particularly sometimes his game can lack pace, but he was more consistent in the second half of the season. I see him as a third-line center in the NHL.

He was in Player Assistance Program. Probably an MTA due to that. The fact that he cleared shows something like this is the reason.

Sure.
Bo has been pretty consistent in his messages, like how he has said anything but playoffs, is a huge failure on our part.
The guy has been the teams best player, over the last 80+ games. He has deserved his opportunity to get the fuck away from this group, unlike douchebag Miller, who deserves to be stuck in thos gongshow and Brock who is going to be almost impossible to move without some sweetening to a deal.
Can't see how anyone can say Hughes and Pouty are worth keeping either, but maybe that's just me.

- Reubenkincade

Respectfully disagree, Elias Pettersson has 95 points in the Canucks past 80 games, the majority of them at even strength, he’s also +13. Horvat’s been good, but EP40 has been the teams best player and he’s only just turned 24 years old. He now plays center full-time, he quarterbacks the PP on the half-wall, he kills penalties, he’s their best player 5v5.

Horvat has 80 points in his last 80 games played, just so you know, and he’s +7 over that timeframe. He’s been really good, but Pettersson’s been better and he’s a better all-around player…now!

Semantics really, those two have been the teams best skaters and they’re both really good players.

Saravelli suggesting Caps and Bruins.

I don’t want Lys0l or Beecher as centrepieces of deals for a player as good as Horvat so no to Boston

They have Brock Nelson then JGP. They need scoring wingers.

An ALL IN move if there ever was one. They are tight when it comes to giving up assets.

As I recall he spoke to several colleagues throughout the NHL such as Sakic & Yzerman and followed their advice to do a proper rebuild.

But what do those guys know?

- VanHockeyGuy

Both those guys have done well, better than Benning did no doubt but if you are talking what they walked into vs what Benning walked into. MacKinnon, Stamkos. Clearly without a doubt superstar players at draft time.

Imagine if Benning got his way in his first draft and pick Larkin. Larkin is a good player but he has definitely not changed the fortunes of Detroit.

Colorado and Detroit have not been dropping spots in the draft lotto. They have been winning them.

Nelson can play wing though, I believe has when he was younger. I think Pageau has as well.
