No, for two completely different reasons:

He’s a very gifted player but he’s going to have to find a way to do what he’s doing at the NHL level, it won’t be as easy, that’s for sure.

I also agree that he’s not a generational player, he’s really really good, but generational is grossly overused. I know Wayne Gretzky wasn’t drafted but since the 1979 NHL Entry Draft there have only been five generational players in my opinion, W. Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid.

I'd potentially add Mackinnon, Matthews & even Makar (although he is facing some adversity for the first time).

*edit meant to say potentially add. Mackinnon is as good as Crosby was, Matthews scores as much as Ovie (just has to prove it over the long term) and there haven't really been any other D like Makar.

He’s worth a late 2nd or 3rd. It was said if we got more picks which we definitely should aim for. I see us taking a BPA C in the 1st unless a RHD rises for us. 2nd round D is the hunt & in later rounds.

Too bad the 2023 doesn’t have many highly ranked D with size. Mostly LHD are rated highest but not really the tool box we need.
