iMac: Not only has the core not been touched… the entire roster hasn’t been touched! Outside of Richardinson

I wonder if we’ll see moves at all. I understand it’s extremely difficult to make trades right now with the cap but they seem to just be sitting on their hands. Maybe there’s a lot going on behind the scenes, which is the most likely scenario, but it just seems like they’re scared to do anything wrong so they do nothing at all.

- LeftCoaster

They appear terrified, despite Rutherford yapping how he's going to shake things up to the players who've sided with Boudreau. Aside from putting names out there, I really don't think this management group knows what their doing. That's why the sharks are circling and the rest of the NHL is laughing at them. JR won't finish his deal in VAN.

The only 2 contracts that will have any affect are Pearson and Myers. And by trading Bo (hopefully Miller) and Boeser, the cap isn't an issue. Demko gives a steady goalie that will bail out young players who make mistakes. This will help with their confidence overall, which will lead to better development. The problem with trading Demko, is after we are done bottoming, we have no Goalie. Suddenly we are Buffalo/Edmonton. Demko is very important to the quick turn around Ownership wants, and his injury gives us the rebuild we want.

If Vancouver has done anything right in drafting/developing/trading over the last 15 years, it's goalies. I have faith in Clark in developing more goalies for the Canucks. We don't need someone to steal us games if the team in front is good, we need someone to be steady.

Sounds like Miller is a good influence in the room.
- Marwood

You need a guy like Pat Quinn walking into the room and smashing a hockey stick against the wall like he did in the old days.

These entitled little kids would sh1t their pants.

You aren’t going to have any young players to bail out for another 2-4 years, unless you are planning on building around Höglander and Podkolzin?

Honestly, I would bet on this draft. Tank hard this year to get a top 5 pick (all the centers are ready or close to ready) and use additional 1sts and 2nds on D to try and get that top pairing dman. After that maybe weaponize cap a bit, but I wouldn't make the goal to lose after next year. I think the goal should be to insulate young players and give them the longest leash possible to figure it out, while having vets take all the poop jobs and defensive zone starts.

And how many of those are Swedish?

Don't get your hopes up, maybe a couple of buyouts this summer.

One of the 650 radio hosts says he’s texted to every insider they interview regularly(LeBrun/Dreger/Friedman/Saravelli) and they all told him that the Canucks still have no interest in a rebuild.

So they’ll trade Schenn as this year’s Motte. Try to sign Bo/Kuz and trade them only as a last resort

Actually, I think this is keenly astute. He’s acknowledging that the Penguins are simply a better team than the Canucks. It doesn’t matter how well they play, if the competition also plays well, chances are they (the rest of the league) win.

If only management could have this same epiphany.

That is what I heard from that too.

Perhaps. But if you want to sign a guy long term it costs more because they expect the cap to go up. $6m on a bridge is cheap compared to his own teammates…

Signing him would be incredibly stupid for a team badly in need of a rebuild.

- 1970vintage

Would rather have him then Boeser.... but yes I agree we are not in a spot to sign him. I worry that without EP he drops to 0.5p/G player as well and not worth the high $ he is asking.

My expectations with this organization and the players in it, is pretty low, can't get much lower.

Going to be another season of wasted opportunity.

For over 40 years of following draft eligible players, these next 2 drafts are the ones you need to load up on.

Yeah, 30 whatever games isn’t enough to know what kind of NHLer he is (going to be). It was a good bet, he should get a first rounder before the deadline.

Thats a good thing, we could potentally get him for less when he goes to UFA.

At minimum, a 2nd and a 3rd. Lower expectations, then not disappointed, if they actually start doing the right thing.

I hope management does trade him, but I worry they do something stupid like push for the impossibility of playoffs and not work from an asset management perspective... especially if they are not around for long.... just like benning did with the OEL trade.

Ferraro said it well... we sign BO all we are doing is paying more for the same results.

I’d be ok with a 1 year $6m deal, because when they stink next year they could always trade him at the deadline (and retain). He’s most valuable right now though because literally any team could fit him in by simply sending someone to the AHL.

Ya? Trade him by TDL for a 1st ++ and then when he doesn't do as good with another team, on July 1st we can talk about how much better he was with EP and get him for a better cap hit.

I can only think of one player that went back to a team as a free agent after being traded from that team. If they trade him, doing well or not I doubt he comes back.

I don't see many free agents flocking to Vancouver.

The only UFA types I want to see being signed are players like Megna and Chaput.

Always depends on situation. We have now heard they are willing to start short term at 6m or long term at 9m (not worth 9m by any stretch). Previously it was that he is going to UFA regardless. If it is the ladder, getting him back would be possible. If it is the former, we need to choose between trading for assets or a short term deal. Assets are better IMO than signing him for 1-2 more seasons at 6m.

Schenn $850, Pearson $3,250,000 = $4,100,000. You also have EP's contract coming up at the end of next season which will probably be about 10M.

How in the actual f*ck do you plan on keeping Horvat let alone Kuz?

Even if they somehow manage to trade Garland and/or Boeser they will be taking a haircut on those deals.
