I really do believe it and am a little shocked you don't believe it. Pearson and Higgins are very comparable players in my opinion, and Ballard we had to use one of the buyouts that don't count against the cap.

Linden definitely deserved blame, but if it went down as most of think it did, I respect him more than the other 2. He could've easily accepted his role as a yes man and collected another few million from FA

Different time periods, Higgins was a great complementary player that, in part, turned the Canucks into a very good team. Yeah they’re similar type players but that’s irrelevant when analyzing trades.

Adding Higgins was hugely successful for the team, adding Pearson was largely meaningless. Especially when you look back at the trade tree and what they gave up to acquire Pearson. Gillis gave up Evan Oberg to acquire Higgins.

I think FA told JR what he wanted when he hired him, and JR said I can do that, so to go back to FA a year later and say "sorry I can't do what I promised" is hard to do.

I'm sure what JR has said to FA is that we'll admit defeat on this year(likely convinced FA that lot of this is Bruce's fault) and that playoffs are back on the menu next season. But deep down he now knows this team is (frank)ed and stuck in no-man's land which is why he'll retire soon enough.

The funny thing for me is that I disliked the pick, but Pod has surpassed my low expectations, I still view him as a solid 3rd line winger once his game matures. I was worried he'd flat out bust like Virtanen, but he's a million time more dedicated to his profession which should serve him well. I do think his hockey sense is a bit limited so he just needs to keep his game simple and straightforward.

Seems pretty similar to me. Infact I would think Pearson produces more.

So far he seems upset about coaching. Happy with extending JTM and looking for a trade haul in Horvat.
