I hate that phrase too but only when it was used over and over again during the Benning era. I disagreed with it back then because even casuals said it’s time to go young. No casual cared if 30+ year olds got shipped out for futures and if the team had a few losing seasons. That was the ideal time to rebuild on purpose, not by accident

It's a dumb narrative, full stop. From an owners perspective it shouldn't matter what the fans want or think, you haven't purchased a team because you need the money, it's a toy.

When you rebuild and it's successful the fans will come, and a lot of them will come. It's completely short-sighted on ownerships part to think the fans should matter in any rebuilding process.
