Honestly, they only care about money and winning, everything else is just noise to them, as long as they can max out their next contracts and pad their stats they could care less about who the next big thing to be drafted to the team might be. That's the problem, the NHL is becoming too much like the MLB or NBA where the team matters less than their stats and maxing out their contracts.

Until I am proven wrong, I am still going to think that most of the humming and hawing is due to ownership not letting management do what they want. FA needs to fully step back and let people smarter than him run the show.

If ownership is calling the shots on a rebuild/ playoffs, then you would think someone with a high profile, like Rutherford, would tell him to pound sand and leave.
I think maybe the ownership listens too much to its managers group, allowing themselves to be fooled every year, into thinking they will be a playoff team, as long as they spend to the cap.

Judging by his movement the last couple of games compared to earlier, it makes you wonder if he just straight up doesn’t bother to bring his maximum effort every night.

Still hilarious that a pretty big contract(cap hit wise) that management signed a few months ago is now one that they’d like to get out of. So much for change.
