He drives to the net all the time - shvingter88
I read “getting to the front of the net” as like boxing out and clearing the crease. Dougie does that? |

I read it as getting to the front of the net as in the offensive zone |

So stupid. Every point could be the difference between a great pick and a bust. You never know.. but I’d rather stack the odds in our favor. Pointless points -_- |

Don't worry we are doomed to draft a bust
Or trade our 1st for a 4th liner or back up goalie |

Stop thinking about yourself. Put yourself in the players shoes. No one wants to lose. They arent gonna lose to get a pick. its irrelevant to them and their potential contracts and etc... |

I know that. I don’t expect them to lose or play to lose. I’m venting about the reality of the situation. |

From the Fitz presser:
-Players need to be better conditioned, stronger, and more mature. That starts in the summer before training camp. Still believes in the talent this team has.
-Injuries arent an excuse but they do have a trickle down effect, you look at the man-games lost to injury this year compared to last year and its a huge difference. Thinks the Dougie injury will only benefit Luke, Nemec, and Bahl going forward, but obviously he was a huge loss for this team.
-Wants a head coach in place before the draft. Needs to be an excellent communicator(both positive and negative), wants them to be able to collaborate with other areas of the organization(management, analytics, ect), and wants to keep players accountable.
-He knows exactly what this team needs this offseason and where he needs to upgrade the roster and knows exactly what the players want. He just needs to go out there and find the right players.
-If he was a betting man, he believes Seamus Casey is leaning towards turning pro. Giving him all the time he needs to decide though.
-Told the team they cant just outscore their mistakes. They need to be willing to win 1-0 games, be more committed defensively and be more patient, waiting to capitalize on opponents mistakes. Need to be able to play/generate offense in more ways than just off the rush.
-Need better practice habits, so it starts to translate to games.
-Its a hard league, theres no guarantee from one year to the next. The players need to understand what training camp means and the start of the season. You dont want to be chasing and playing catch up. Need much better consistency. Its time for this team to be mature enough to understand what the teams who win do to hoist the cup.
-Not looking to give away our 1st round pick, but he's very willing to use it if its for a strong player who will really fill a need to help get us to where we want to go.
-A lot of emphasis on getting "hockey players" instead of guys who just play hockey. Wants guys who are passionate and create an identity. Confrontation, physicality, a 'momentum line.'
-Jacks surgery was successful. Hes back home and will make a full recovery. Not worried about him at all, hes a special player and doesnt get hit very often.
-Team was never fully connected. They chased it all year. Defense need to help out the goalie, forwards need help out the D, its all connected. Team was talented enough but they werent all on the same page.
-Plans on qualifying all of the RFAs.
-McLeod was a huge loss. He was getting better and better every day, you cant replace that. |

So said everything that you are supposed to say, but let's see if he can back up his words
And the players better come back in shape and ready

Devils currently hold the 10th overall pick heading into the lottery. Depending on the outcome they can pick 1, 2, 10, 11, or 12. |

Pretty concerning the main needs of our team can be summed up in that first point: Players need to be better conditioned, stronger, and more mature.. and weak identity. We already have our best players that we’ve invested in. Jack, Nico, Bratt, Timo, Dougie.. and out of these 5, we can’t establish a mature, strong, hard-working, disciplined, identity. Who’s going to be the one to do that? The guy with the C? The guys with the A? .. we gona sign a Nick freaking Foligno to teach our leaders how to lead? Their mental resolve has more often than not been weak. Gotta hope maybe another offseason will illicit mental growth for these young guys as a unit. |

I don’t think we can since we’re at 12. Can only move up 10 spots I think. |

Devils announce that Timo has undergone elective arthroscopic shoulder surgery and is expected to be fully recovered for training camp. He also had double MCL injuries and an oblique injury throughout the year. Healthy Timo next year is going to be a monster. |

And with the __ overall pick the New Jersey devils select a huge bust. |

No idea on the legitimacy of the report, but Nick Kypreos is saying that there are rumors that wont go away of Mike Sullivan being interested in leaving Pittsburgh to coach the Devils. |
