Can’t wait to just miss the playoffs
- shvingter88

I feel like we’ve bled so many assets that perhaps could’ve been used to bring in a top 6 winger. It’s great we had depth, but that depth is fading fast.

Just trying to figure out needs in FA

Meier Hughes bratt
X nico ?
Palat mercer haula
X cotter baatian

Pesce (if it happens) Hamilton
Hughes nemec
Siegenthaler x

- dmarsden2988

Yeaaaah its not looking too good lol. Imo we need a top 6 winger, a 3C(or do we play Haula there?), a bottom 6 winger(maybe two if we play Haula at 3c), and the two D

Timo-Nico-Bratt
??-Jack-Mercer
Palat-??(or Haula)-Haula(or ??)
Cotter-Lazar-Bastian(or Foote/MacDermid/someone from Utica)

Siegs-Dougie
Luke-??(likely Pesce)
??(Dillon/someone like that)-Nemec

Marky
Allen

In regards to the forwards, at bare minimum we need a top 6 winger and a 3rd liner/middle 6 guy. Fitz has said over and over how he wants to reshape/retool the bottom 6, so i imagine he's going to be adding someone else and Cotter isnt going to be the only change.

I'd be trying my hardest to get another capable middle 6 center if i was Fitz. We all know our centers havent had the best track record of staying healthy, so i'd prefer to not have Haula/Mercer/Lazar being moved into a top 6 center role when we need to push a center up. Prepare for it now so we're somewhat covered.

I can't see keefe doing the ruff experiment with haula playing with Hughes

Not sure if mercer will play in top 6 either

There's a few needs and not much to work with

I know i saw somewhere that said about 17mill in cap space

6 of that goes to pesce
3 to billon

Leaves 8 mill for top 6 and depth

We yeah have 19.7M in cap space right now. Fitz is gonna need to be smart with the contracts he gives out if he wants to fill all of the holes. I'm expecting atleast 4 moves tomorrow(3 signings and 1 trade or 4 signings)

I don’t mind getting some picks back because our prospect depth is not as good as people say imo.

He wasnt someone they were targeting. Some names they've shown interest in are Teravainen, Marchessault, DeBrusk, Arvidsson, Tarasenko, Mantha, Bertuzzi. Among some other players

Bertuzzi mantha and or tera or debrusk would be nice as they aren't too old but effective

Devils have qualified Dawson Mercer, Adam Beckman, Santerri Hatakka, Nico Daws, and Nolan Foote.

The team did not qualify Michael Vukojevic and as expected also did not qualify Cal Foote or Michael McLeod.

Devils have acquired D Jonathan Kovacevic from the Habs for a 2026 4th round pick. 27 years old, 6'5 right handed D. Seems to have decent-to-good defensive and PK metrics.

Cheap organizational depth, I guess he will probably battle it out with DeSimone and Hatakka for the 7th D spot? Or will he actually be on our 3rd pairing and we use the money that we would've used on a Dillon for a forward? Either way, he seems like good depth to have.

Seravalli says Brenden Dillon has atleast 4-6 teams lining up to get him. Potential bidding war on a 3rd pairing D? No thanks.

Interesting Vegas did nothing with Schmid. Unless they see minimal value in the player they gave up.. they must see some value in Holtz. Who knew a 22yr old with 1 full season under his belt would be worth anything to anyone. Certainly he’s a bust with all that time under competent coaching and top players. Just look at the rest of the league.. with almost every 1st round pick being locks in their top 2 lines by the age of 22 in their first full season. Holtz is certainly a bust. We fleeced Vegas of a 4th liner that was projected universally to be a top 6 sniper capable of scoring 30 goals on the regular by the age of 22.

Whatever. I gotta drop it cuz complaining doesn’t help anyone and who am I to have an opinion based off decades of reality. I am a peon. An armchair GM, as they say.

Today is the day we either get disappointment from signings or lack thereof or happy

I can see pesce on a decent deal

Not sure who else we have in mind

I saw devils are interested in dillon but wonder if the trade yesterday will have any impact even though he is more a 7th dman and depth. But reports are there's at least 6 teams interested in dillon so that won't help with getting a great deal and if the other teams are already playoff teams he may not want to take a risk

As for forwards I really have no clue

Not even sure what our best trade chips are

Nothing is done yet but there's a lot of talk that the Devils may be the favorite to sign Jonathan Marchessault today. Still going over all of their top 6 options, rumors that they're in on Stamkos as well. We'll see what happens.

Aren't both aging? Like 34?

I know they have been putting up numbers but they both will want 3+ years at least and towards the back end would hurt us

Friedman in his free agency predictions has both Pesce and Dillon going to NJ. Didnt have a prediction for Marchessault or Stamkos. If those 2 D signings happen and we get one of those bigger forwards, i wonder if Fitz still wants another bottom 6 forward depending on how much money we have left over.

Say we get both dmen and 1 of the bigger forwards how many players do we have under contract? Remember mercer is going to be signed too

If we sign 3 guys today we'll have 21/23 contracts. That doesnt include Mercer or Foote. Mercer is likely going to get pinched. They'll wait until we're done with everything and offer Mercer whatever we have left. He has zero leverage and no arb rights, so he just kinda needs to take it.

Also, Bastian has been on the block recently to try to open up another roster spot and money. Wouldn't totally shock me if he's moved and they get a different 4th liner to replace him.

So we have roughly 20mil in space
6 pesce
3.5 dillon
Let's say 7.5 for stammer or marsh

That's 17 which leaves 3 for mercer and 2 depth
