Per Rick Westhead, 5 players from the 2018 Canadian world junior team have been told to surrender to Ontario police to face charges of sexual assault. They have been given a set period of time to turn themselves in.

So does this mean Lindy may be moved to a front office position and we get a new coach? Too bad they let Brunette walk as I believe he would have been a good head coach

Both McLeod and Foote are not on the ice for practice(both were on that wj team). Already seen speculation running rampant on twitter, mostly towards McLeod because he also wasnt at the team event last night.

Michael McLeod and Cal Foote have both been granted indefinite leave of absences from the team.

Hard fought battle last night, but without our top players we just don't have enough skill to beat the Canes right now. Luke was noticably out of position on several occassions, but that's to be expected. He is playing more minutes now against better competition and likely needs to be sheltetred a bit. I thought they looked scattered, and played more individually than as a team, when Lindy left.

Emily Kaplan says while the players are currently still being paid(since they've all taken a leave of absence), if/when these charges become official their statuses will change. Likely being termination or suspension.

Why? Not saying they don't derserve to be punished if guilty. But if they don't get jail time, do they lose their jobs? Does the NHL have one of those rules where they're out of the league if they're guilty? Sorry, just don't understand the process

Jack's injury seems to be very hush-hush. Leading me to speculate he may have the dreaded C word. Do we know how he got hurt? I know he left the BHawks game with the injury but didn't see the play where he got hurt or what is ailing him? Or maybe it is that dang shoulder again?

It was a wrist injury. He's expected back within the first few games after the all-star break, but who the hell knows with this team and injuries lol

Apparently the earliest they're gonna be seen in court is 2026, because of how backed up the system is. There's no world they will be able to play in the NHL during that time, as they're likely to be suspended indefinitely by the NHL until a verdict is thrown down. All of the players' contracts end after this season so they'll obviously not be signed and they'll just be free agents. If they're allowed to leave Canada, maybe they go play in Russia or something until they're summoned to court.

Also, McLeod got hit with an extra "party to an offense" charge that nobody else got.

Thanks for clarifying. What a shame that one VERY bad decision has ruined these guys careers/lives. Wasted talent. Hopefully they seek the Lord's forgivness

Henrique would be a fun add, but he's not coming here. Our top 2 centers are set in stone and have options for the bottom 6. He'd make us much deeper, but we have other needs, if we plan on contending. The goaltending is difficult for me to wrap my mind around. We've seen all 3 of our guys have incredible games, and stretches of great games.. and then trainwrecks and stretches of garbage games. So which is it? Which will show up in the playoffs? Do we really spend big on a Markstrom and hope he will average a B level performance instead of our 3 guys flipping between letter grades every other game? Tanev would be nice for more depth.

Fitz doesn’t need to make any moves. This season is a loss. It would be stupid to pay out big assets for a team that isn’t going anywhere this year.

Agreed, I'm completely out on moving any assets for rentals. If Fitz can find a deal that helps us beyond this season then go for it, but I have zero interest in giving anything up for someone who is probably only here for 35 games.
