Per Darren Dreger, the Devils/Flyers/Flames will receive cap relief for the players on leave being charged.

Fitz doesn’t need to make any moves. This season is a loss. It would be stupid to pay out big assets for a team that isn’t going anywhere this year.

Just wait for the offseason to make the team better. And for the love of god FIRE Lindy Dippoop Ruff!

it is what it is. it all sucks for everyone involved. ... no pun intended...

In other news, Amanda Stein reports Jack is skating in a regular jersey and will be reevaluated before Thursday's game against Calgary.

Felt like today was a must-win. You can’t keep sinking and count on getting hot at the right time. For morale and standings, they needed the W.

I heard we tried a package sending Holtz for Markstrom but fell through cuz Calgary wouldn’t retain salary.
If this is true.. Yeesh. Sharangovich seems to be finding himself. Holtz is a rookie. How many great players aren’t even good in the first few years? I still have Jack’s rookie season in my mind. Holtz can score. He can play. He WILL get better. He improved from last year, and will continue. Markstrom is 34. (lol it sounds so old.. as I sit here turning ..36 next month.. which sounds impossible when I think it lol).

Holtz for Markstrom? What say you?

It wasn't just Markstrom, it was Hanifin too. I'd prefer to keep Holtz, but if he's what it takes to actually acquire a solid goalie then do it. I'd rather give up Bahl than Holtz though(which is apparently the two players teams want when we call asking about a goalie). Fitz not wanting to trade Holtz or Bahl in the summer is the reason we don't have Hellebuyck right now.

Hellebuyck is 31 tho. Markstrom is nearing fall-off age for most players. Meanwhile, Holtz could easily develop into a consistent 30+ goal scorer.

That's what happens when you wait and wait while the entire league knows you need a goalie. Should've pulled the trigger in the summer, but he held firm and its backfiring on him now. The prices have gone up for us. Next best option is Saros, and he's going to cost way more than what Fitz would've had to give up for Hellebuyck, so I highly doubt he makes that move. He's just gonna end up getting another stopgap and hope one of the young goalies is ready to be a #1 in 2-3 years.

Holtz is a lot to give for a goalie that’s a UFA in 3yrs.. and will be on the wrong side of 35 for most of that time.

Yes he is, but that's what it'll likely cost for any kind of proven goaltending upgrade. Its unfortunate, but that's the situation we're in. It's either pay up for an actual goaltending upgrade or go for another Vitek-like move(Kahkonen?).

Like Trotz said when asked about his goalie talks with Fitz, "I need to keep reminding him that you're the one that needs a goalie, not me." That's likely how every GM in the league is approaching talking to Fitz about a goalie.

Is Markstrom a Holtz better than Daws? 🧐 Kid is tracking the puck well again tonight.

I think I’d rather ruff be fired than trade holtz, he’s the real problem here.

If this team had less injuries, was more experienced and better coached I would say it would be worth it because they would be contenders. Not this team though, I wouldn’t make one trade this season.

Develop Holtz and ride with Daws/Schmid. His deployment by Ruff is ridiculous. Giving up on him for a guy that’ll be 35 next season is also ridiculous.

Too bad the league hates money and they were nonexistent at the merch truck at the game.

I was at the rags vs isles game and was surprised by the lack of merch. I did however see a grossly over priced hoodie for 130 dollars. That’s just absurd.

Holtz for Jarry? Maybe if Pitt falls further back? His cap hit is light ($5.375) but does go to 2028. Career .915% and having a solid year on an average Pitt team
