Stop. It was 102% a female dog move by Reilly. BuT tHE uNWritTen RuLEs. Grow up. If it bothered him so much, give him a bump, curse at him and throw him a clean, hard check next game. It was nothing but a Dale Hunter cheap shot. I wouldn’t necessarily have shot the puck like that, but it was probably in response to some prior female dog crap that Toronto pulled during the game. For that reason I love it. |

Kinda doesnt matter what Greig did. It was a hit to the head and the play was over. W will see if he gets preferential treatment, but he deserves 5 plus. ez. A nonsense slapshop brings out somekinda false bravado in the leafs. They just dont get it. - 26912 PP1
Most hockey people agree that Reilly deserves punishment and that his actions were necessary and justified. I think it is you that "doesn't get it". |

It’s 100% showing up the team when all you have to do is slide it into the eng. You know why? Because when has that even happen? It hasn’t because it’s code, or an unwritten rule that you don’t do it. Grieg is an agitator and that’s why he did it, and he got a stick in the face because of it. Reilly should’ve just drop the gloves and pummeled him with his fists (instead of his stick)
This is a classic case of two wrongs dont make a right. - Slimtj100
Still don't understand how a completely legal play and a completely illegal play equals 2 wrongs.

Rielly should get some consideration for good behaviour to date, but the suspension needs to show the league won't tolerate this kind of reaction. 5-6 games, Keefe should be fined for his 'appropriate' comments and forced to retract them. Grieg certainly deserved a reaction to his unsportsmanlike play, but a clip to the back of an unsuspecting head is never the right way to do it. - Bartacus

If Greig took the slapshot from his own zone, would that be ok? What about the center ice? What about at the Leaf's blue line?
Same shot, same result.
If Reilly's actions were necessary and justified, then he would not be called into a hearing and about to be suspended. |

This was a highly watched HNIC game and that will lead to the appropriate 3 or 4 game suspension. Carry on... |

Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right. I guarantee you Tarasenko doesn’t do that. He’s a doosh and now it’s clear to everyone he is, including every other NHL player. He’ll have a target on his back his whole career now
I hate the leafs lol I just thought it was really uncalled for when all you have to do is slide it in. No one was near him |

What does it matter? What if he skating in and backhanded it in bar down? OMG he didn't slide it in gently!
If you don't want it to go in then don't pull the goalie.

Actually, by definition, if it is legal it means he in the the right to do it.
This old school hockey mentality and justifications is just showing how fragile the Leafs are, as a team. |

I can’t imagine what would’ve happen to him in the 80s if he did that. So maybe the times they are a changin |

The slapshot was lame. I don't love Rielly's shot there, but also don't hate it if the Leafs add some evil dirt to their game like that. Rielly'll get few games, and Kadri will get 40. |

Fair enough.
Just saying justifying a cheap shot to the head and saying it was deserved, as per the original comment, for a completely legal play is a bad take.

No way man, Reilly isn’t right either. I stated that. Do it with your fists. Definitely can’t go ignored imo, especially since they won’t play each other till next year now

Yes, times are changing...more people are weak minded.
I don't care if he danced and wiggled while he skated in, the end result was he scored and if you don't like it then stop it. The problem is people can't let go of these make believe "unofficial rules"...then make it official.
Maybe the NBA should stop letting players dunk on a breakaway when they can easily lay it in...oh wait that's not an "unofficial rule".
Now that more people know how much it bothers people, they should do it more, especially in the playoffs when you can get them off their game.

That was the first thing I thought of, what if a player did that to "my team"...don't care it's stupid. I'm more upset they lost the game and had to pull the goalie.

Wasn’t it gudbranson who lit up Cousins after a bad hit? I know it’s completely different but he could’ve done something similar. If it makes you feel better, Boomer on Sirius is on your side lol |
