Daily Faceoff's UFA rankings, with projections for their upcoming contracts:
it would seem Monahan has fallen quite a bit lol... 2.9M for 3 years wouldn't be a turrible deal though. |

Based on his health history, I imagine he'd need to sacrifice some money in exchange for term |

wouldn't it be the opposite though, with a bit more money per year over fewer years?

Probably not. A team would pay more if he accepts one year as he's off the books if he gets injured. However, why commit more money long term if he's at risk of being injured in years 2, 3, 4 that's money you can't use later down the line. |

well if you're trying to figure out a contract that would take into account the potentially high risks of him getting injured again, logic would dictate that the team signing him offers a shorter term, 3 instead of 4 or 5 for example, but with a slightly higher cap hit to compensate, that way you lower the chances of wasting his last contract years on LTIR. |

I'll fix it.
Looks like The Captain, Mark Stone, will spend all next year on LTIR so our VGK can sign 4-5 guys on that list |

am I supposed to disagree with you on this? cuz it's been their tactic so far, I wouldn't be shocked if they re-synched Stone's recovery time from an injury with the start of the playoffs again next year...

yep I'd sign Monahan to that deal without blinking.
I'd also sign Carrier btw. |

what matters isn't when or how you get hurt, as long as your prescribed return to action coincides with game #1 of the golden turd's first playoff series.

both? I don't know much about Carrier but if you sign him and Monahan you'll end up not having enough roster spots for younger players in the habs' pipeline who could deserve a shot. |

Golden Knights, Pat.
Anyway, we always talk about getting players who win in the playoffs. So it's best we save The Captain, Mark Stone, for when it matters |

yeah, this is the habs thread, Paul, and as far as I'm concerned it's the laffs, the booins and the golden turds. it is what it is.

Carrier is a 30 y/o RD, played on the 1st PP unit in NASH.
he would replace Savard as a vet once Savard is traded at the next tdl. |
