Trade for Necas - Richieattack18
I believe it will be Zegras. Verbeek seems happy to trade Murray draft picks. As we know, Murray is on the Flyers payroll. Ducks have MacTavish and Carlsson as young top 6 centers. Not sure who they have in the pipeline and sitting at 3 overall in this draft. |

I get what you’re saying, but they’ve sucked for so long that, yeah, I’d be pretty happy with the scenario you laid out. Playoffs every year. A couple of deep runs. (frank) yeah! The Flyers will never commit to a real rebuild (and there’s no guarantee that the results would be any better; see 76ers). It’s just not going to happen. Maybe they just need to get back to their root? Just f-ing go for it. It might be what made us all fans in the first place. Just a bunch of fun dumbasses trying to win. The Flyers were best when they were anti-establishment and didn’t do things the right way. - Dkos
I’m talking bottom of the league standings suck. They haven’t sucked that bad. The old way doesn’t work anymore because of the cap. Again, people keep saying there’s no guarantee that a rebuild works. Except it’s the only thing that does work! See PIT, CHI, LA, WSH, STL, TB, & COL. The facts are right there to look up, all of those teams had finished bottom 5 multiple times and had at least 1 top 5 pick that was a key contributor to their Cup win.
You’re the type of fan that’s the problem. As soon as they win a few games you hop right back on the bandwagon buying up tix and merch so that you can cheer a first round exit. You’re accepting of mediocrity masked as “going for it all!” You are admittedly ok with ZERO cups. That to me is astonishing. Ron Hextall said at his Flyers HOF induction, “…A team, an organization, and a city where excellence is expected. Where the love of winning is only secondary to the hatred of losing.” I guess once they get to the 2nd round that hatred of losing goes away. WTF are we doing here? |

That’s funny because people on this thread are going back and forth about Joel Farabee basically being a 2nd or 3rd line winger. Farabee who put up 22G & 50Pts. But you want to trade for Necas who *checks notes* only had 24G & 53Pts this season, on one of the best teams… |

I think you answered your own question. - MBFlyerfan
Flyers would not risk a 1st round pick on a player who might not be allowed to come over, and if he is, just to trade him away.

You can wish they’ll rebuild the right way all you want. Evidence points to it never happening. If you’re telling me we’ll be a competitive team, with several deep runs, over the next 10 years I’ll take it over another stretch of losing.
Oh, and, I’ve only been to about 20 games in the last 50 years and the only Flyers swag I have is a Gritty headband that my son gave me. I haven’t had any Flyers gear since I was a kid, in the ‘70s. |

Finally listened to the Jason Myrtetus video Bill posted today. I get it, we all miss the Flyers being good and making the playoffs. But trying a quick fix doesn’t work. Does he or anyone else really think if they trade for Chychrun and Necas they’ll go on a deep playoff run? Hell, let’s give that to them, and say those additions win them a round or even 2. Are we content with that? Let’s say the next 10 years, Flyers make the playoffs every year and make the conf finals twice and make the 2nd round another 2 times. Are we all happy with that? For all of you who love Flyers tradition, is it honoring Ed Snider to make the goal just making the playoffs and crossing our fingers they win a round or 2? Myrtetus says now’s the time to go for it! Why? Because his kid is apathetic to Flyers hockey? Wasn’t signing Hayes going for it? Trading for Ellis? Trading for Risto? Trading for Niskanen? Giving Couturier the big contract? Signing JVR? Holding onto Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds way too long? Signing Filppula? Trading for Andy MacDonald? Signing Mark Streit? Signing Lecavalier?
OR would you rather see the Flyers suck the next few seasons, acquiring top picks and hopefully drafting some elite players, and then in say 2027ish start an 8+ year run where they’re a legitimate cup contender and possibly win a couple cups? - Schmojo
Haven't heard the podcast but if he is saying now is the time to go for it. He should quit commenting on the sport.

The problem with Farabee is he is not a player that can generate his own offense. He does not have a great shot and does not score off the rush. He is a guy that scores garbage goals, tip ins, rebounds, and weak side tap ins. I don’t see a lot of offensive upside. I think he can be a good 3rd line winger, checks well, can kill penalties, chip in a goal here and there but he is not a top 6 forward IMO. - jd250
You should review Farabee's goals. You've made this comment before and it shows that you're uninformed. How many teams have a 22 goal 50+ point players on the 3rd line. He scored 22 goals. Most teams have 4-5 20 goal scorers on their team. Only a few teams have more.

Necas is 3 years younger than Konecny and has already done something Konecny has never done - have a 70 (71) point season. Necas is a perfect fit for the Flyers fast pace transition offense.
Now give him 1st line minutes/pp time in the right system and watch that number soar

The Flyers system under Tortorella is the right system versus the Canes?

Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson backed up Filip Gustavsson in Team Sweden's victory over Latvia. Ersson has been Tunnel Rush impressive, posting a 2-0-0 record and a 1.00 GAA through two starts. |
