it's totally fine, as long as he doesn't actually start watching baseball games, then you know something has gone horribly wrong.

yeah I'd be rather surprised if the habs traded the 5th pick, I definitely don't see them trading down as it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense considering they are still missing some important pieces for their rebuild... they could always trade up, but you very rarely see such a thing happen as it usually becomes too costly for it to be worth the move anyway. - Pat1993
I would be surprised too. Though I wonder if Demidov and Lindstrom are both off the board when Montreal selects, would that change their perspective on trading it? |

the habs trading down in this case would mean that they reaaaaaally aren't confident in the players still available at that rank, which I doubt happens. I know it isn't necessarily the deepest draft ever, and that there is no clear consensus after the first overall pick, but it does sound like there will be some interesting options to consider.
the circumstances might be right to look at the team's specific needs a bit more than effectively trying to identify who the best player available is, and given that the habs could not only use a forward but also another right-handed dman (which would be a very unpopular decision among fans since it definitely feels like adding some scoring is a more pressing matter), I'm 95% certain they're using that pick.

dude. michkov just terminated his contract and is coming over next season. its being reported all over the place. - Gramps28
Actually that would be his KHL team terminating his contract, not the other way around.
If that's true, it's kinda weird seeing his KHL team dump him like that. Not saying the kid isn't talented, but it seems he comes with a couple of red flags.
Of course, there isn't much there to lose if you're Philadelphia.
...but I hope he turns out to be a huuuuuge bust (sorry kick). |

yeah, so does every other fanbase of teams who passed on him at the draft lol.
in a way I do kinda hope for philly that Michkov turns out to be decent (nothing crazy, wouldn't want him to turn out to be a frickin' generational player or something..!) considering what already happened not so long ago with Cutter Gauthier... |

The KHL is so hard to judge right now. I don't want to be the "hockeydb stats reading guy", but when you see Jordan Weal getting a 77 points season there this year...
