lots of poop can happen during a season, and there are always surprises. we've been waiting forever for BUF to get good but they never do, and I can easily see things going wrong in OTT and DET. you don't need to act like you already know the future lol.
- Pat1993

good timing to pay tribute to one of my favorites

if all goes well, really well, they could finish ahead of BUF DET OTT. the best of the rest.

let say they give up a 1st to get rid of Anderson, save 5M, spend it on Skinner (as you wish), Habs still miss the playoffs (lets be honest, noone believe they're even close).
so you lost a 1st for what exactly?

They are likely 5-6 points out based on the lineup is now barring injuries. Whether its Skinner or someone else remains to be seen

imho, they'll compete when the dcore is mature. that is Reinbacher, Guhle... and the others. and when Demidov will be dominant. so yeah, still a few years away.
until then don't give picks away for nothing, keep Anderson and Gallagher even if they have bad contracts. paying to get rid of them won't make the kids get older faster. by the time we're good, these 2 contracts won't be on the books anymore.

I think you're mixing "competing" with "battling for a playoff spot"... when the Dcore is mature enough and Demidov becomes dominant, they should be a very competitive team with very strong chances of making the playoffs.

they could always pay to get rid of Gally and Anderson, hire 2 top6 forwards right away. that would make them a better team, but the dcore would still be green.

Yes improve and fight for a playoff spot for 3/4 of season then fall off
and get a top 12 pick or so. Maybe move one next summer or a buyout?

both have 3 years left on their contract.
I'm afraid we'll see them in bleu-blanc-rouge for at least 2 full seasons.
like I said no rush to buy them out or to give picks away until the dcore is ready. (which should take 2 seasons)

Agreed. I think Hugo will make a couple of moves, and we will will fight for a spot right to the very end. I could see them make it if everything goes fairly well on the injury front.

Let’s hope he does, we also need to fix our PP and PK to make the playoffs, get a new coach for special teams
