In terms of where they are at now, I didn't see him as a fit for either side. For Montreal, he pushes a guy down the line up who you want to see develop. For marchessault as well, who probably still wants to compete right now and not down the line.

yup, and at his age, with the term being asked, teams know that the last few years of the deal probably won't be looking so great for them but they're still willing to do it because they're in "win now" mode, which obviously isn't the case yet for the habs.

It's like the giroux signing... Was just for the money?

the deals and signings made by the senators generally haven't been all that optimal for them in terms of rebuilding and moving forward to become a more competitive team, which I'm definitely not going to complain about and will simply continue enjoy watching from a short distance on the other side of the river...

for Giroux specifically, I know he was born in Ontario, is he a franco-ontarien...? perhaps that had something to do with it, combined with the fact that there were whispers around the team concerning potential leadership issues, so maybe he was also brought in with the hopes that he'd help alleviate some of that problem with his experience and veteran presence.

but of course, the bottom line always remains the same, (frank) the sens.

Hughes confirmed that Marchessault came very close to signing in MTL but it didn't happen because the habs had very specific parameters going in these negotiations and there was simply too much term being asked to their liking.

they tried, but in the end they stuck to their plan and did the right thing at this point in time, imho.

Timing was just not there this year to sign a Top UFA…

They still need to pick top 5 for another 10 years before trying to make the playoffs…

By the way, do you think we will reach 10,000 post before EK finds another lead for the blog ?

I would see Mr Pinotte doing that!

wut

also, for the habs blogger position, Smillie said he'd be doing it until he's let go for someone else, so technically the job is currently his.

noice...!!

to be honest, I haven't studied in journalism or anything but it is something that I'd probably enjoy doing, I just most likely wouldn't have all the time I'd like to write blogs regularly as I tend to become a perfectionist with certain things, and it would take a while for me to work on a blog to turn it into something I'm satisfied with lol.

i'd burn out blogging in 3 weeks.

i'd just lie awake at night thinking of the things the blog that i already posted should have said. or the way something in it should have been worded.

yup, I would most definitely go through the same kind of thing

it's something I guess I'd try to work on though so that I could get to a point where I'm able to publish something without having regrets about it every (frank)ing time lol.

yup, our contribution as posters is still important to generate conversation and keep the thread alive and going lol

if I blogged I would still be posting here, vehemently replying to each of my own points I was trying to make and constantly criticizing the logic I've used, until I end up in a fetal position to finally reconsider my decision of trying to blog in the first place.
