I AM curious about some species I've seen reproduce a lot in zoo, like the maras we discussed earlier, I think the Wroclaw zoo had like 5-6 babies every year, same for barbary macaques...and about 25 sheep and goats.

Yeah alot of the females are on some form of birth control. We reproduce according to the SSP's of each animal's reproduction plan. When it's non endangered species they just gage the rate to keep an healthy autonomus herd, but even then you need outside genetics quick.
