Pick 12 here we come! But this is a rebuild and elite talent falls off of trees at 12, 25 and 32 - mikeyo27
Right now I have them in the 6-8 range. I think the only teams I see clearly worst then the Flyers right:
Ducks
Bluejackets
Sharks
Flames
Now injuries could change a team like what happened to the Devils. Maybe Chicago is still below them but they could play well enough to not be as bad as the Flyers. I think Montreal will be better.
So if they move out some players it is not hard to see this team as a bottom 5 team.

- as far as moving up history shows that rarely happens. Also if the flyers were Truely rebuilding, they wouldn't have had to try in vain to move up. Why doesn't this ever seem to get addressed?
- perceived value of players. flyers clearly over rate their players on a bottom feeding team. the GM has already stated as much.
- to get elite talent you need to draft it. in order to put yourself in that spot you need to bottom out. flyers will never ever do that by design.
- torts will get an ext imo. unless they just flat out stink and you can see they quit.
- talking about TK. Need a direction preferably before the season or at least 1st month. Bill thinking maybe 4 or 5 year deal for higher cap hit. What benefit does that bring to the flyers who are "rebuilding"? I do not see any upside to bringing him back seeing where the flyers are at currently and the future. flyers already missed the boat on trading him.
- laughton. JM thinks he brings so much to the organization and wouldn't move him unless a great deal. both make all the excuses why he should stay. so funny for a rebuilding team. not a ton of players who brings what he does says Bill. All the flyers talking points covered.
- mentality of tanking. brings a losing mentality. culture baby. well flyers been losing for decades.
- says half in on a rebuild. there is no halfway. you either do or you don't.
- drafting a point or bergeron is all luck. cant wait around for that. best way is through the draft. need to take risks via a recchi type trade.
maybe it is me, just cracks me up how anyone can defend this organization and their philosophies in any fashion as we sit here today. - hello it's me 2050
The status given to Laughton is puzzling. He’s a dime a dozen bottom six. Every team has someone that can fill his role. He’s got 95 goals in 8 full NHL seasons. He’s a very middling player. His spike in penalties last season is an indicator of decline. The Flyers will have to pay 3.5-4 Mil to keep a player in his 30s when they can get someone younger and cheaper with upside.

I am kind of surprised that Briere didn't try to go his own way. Like when Zito went to Florida. Zito made some tough moves and built that team in a model he wanted. You would think, if it fails or not, you would build the team in your own eyes. Put your own stake on it and go from there.
Instead he's been kind of like Hextall in trying to straddle the line again and still following a previous failed plan - J35Bacher
Zito had 7 years of FO experience including 5 years as GM of an AHL team to fall back on and went to a team who expected him to lead with no preconceptions.
No storied alumni guiding things behind the scenes, no "Panther's way" that was expected to be adhered to.
The Panthers were open to doing whatever it took to change and Zito, someone from outside the organization, brought in much needed change, the Flyers are not a team who can bring themselves to do that.
Let's not forget that Zito also inherited multiple players who were drafted with top 3 picks that were instrumental in both acquiring talent and participated in their cup runs so his talent base from a Stanley Cup perspective was light years ahead of where the Flyers are. |

There will never be another Vegas because they were built during a unique expansion draft and everything after flows from that. Multiple GMs should've been fired. - Flyers_01
I give Vegas credit. They were aggressive. Seattle looked like they were trying to make an AHL team. Seattle sucked as much as Vegas was great. |

he will be in the flyers hall of fame someday.....cant put a price or what not on what he brings.
he brings nothing but fn losing. As that is all this team has done since his arrival. just another reason why he should have been sent packing long ago |

Problems with that:
A) Vegas is aggressive and Flyers are not
B) Vegas has incredible talent and the Flyers do not
C) Vegas knows how to work the cap, Flyers have NEVER understood it
D) Taking that approach would expose the rebuild for the lie that it is - mikeyo27
Vegas has won 1 cup, who cares what the F they do.
They are no longer the super team they used to be.

Would the Panthers have won the cup if they did not have Bob? They were lucky he became a free agent.

You have repeatedly stated that it can be done in 2-3 years. You keep talking about the Vegas model. It's clear that you don't know what their model was. It is impossible for the Flyers to build with the Vegas method. - MJL
I am not advocating the Flyers should use the Vegas model. I am simply stating that I believe that is what the Flyers are planning on doing. I am basing this from a recent interview with Keith Jones where he spoke of the differnet models to build a team. I would prefer the Flyers tank this season and get a top 5 pick and also use their other picks to come up with 3 prospects in this upcoming draft that they feel can make the team within 1-2 years. But so far based on the evidence in front of me, that is not what the Flyers are doing, so I can only conclude they will be using the picks as trade chips and then spending the money that comes off the books this year in free agency. |

Masters at cap circumvention and don’t fall in love with players. They have no problem moving popular and productive players to get things done.

What set would you rather have:
1. Cutter, MM, Perrault, and Buium
2. JD, MM, Bonk, and Jett

Again, it is impossible for the Flyers to use the "Vegas" model. You're also flop flopping again. After arguing just recently that at a press conference. Jones did not say they were going to spend the money when it becomes available. |

even swap out Gabe and bonk and 1 is still much better than the other. pretty much only the flyers could have phucked this up.

It’s poop like this, of what’s wrong with this organization. Country club from top to bottom.
Meltzer: Chapman, known to his colleagues as “Chappy”, had a 27-year “shift” as a Flyer scout from 1996 until his retirement in 2023. Previously, he worked for the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.
During his long tenure with the Flyers, Chapman served as an amateur scout, pro scout, director of player development and director of player personnel.
“I can’t count the miles I traveled with Chappy, the games we viewed or the hours we talked on the road,” Nolet told Greenberg. |

this is what a rebuilding team would do if they wanted to build through the draft. Based on the evidence so far, I don't think that is what the Flyers plan to do. I think they want to build the Vegas way, trading picks and signing free agents. - jd250
So again, trying to buy the cup instead of doing the things to set a proper foundation, and build from there.
