We were not in a position to do that, though some claim we are - lulags
Yeah, without retention it didn't make sense. As others have said, trading for him after buying out Skinner would've been a step back in the same direction, so didn't think it would happen.
At the same point, an EC team just got better, on the cheap and we've sat on our hands since the McLeod fleecing. Think it's going to be another tough season. |

this is my concern. Did we shed skinner to save space for potential call ups or to
get better this year? |

In what way? "Because they didn't want to" is not an answer |

Paying his full salary for the next 2 years could have been problematic |

Ya, if full salary.
Sabres don't make a trade for him w/o money going back. CBJ clearly wanted a clean deal to maximize their Cap Space (why I don't know), good on them, they found a way. |

zucker and greenway come off the books in 10 months, which that savings alone covers laine's salary next year
I am not saying laine was the answer but I am saying if adams wanted him, he could have had him and made it work cap wise |

Laine can’t seem to stay on one team for longer that a few years. |

Bills say all starters will be held out Saturday.
They plan to go into the regular season without a tune-up.
Did Sean see how that worked out for the Sabres last season?
Oh boy. |

Lot of players hurt, think it's a mistake but I don't blame him. |

I'd bet on 50 from everyone else sooner than those 220 coming to fruition.
I don't know if 270 total is legit though. - TheHank
Panthers were 268 last year
With 244 against last season 270 would put us at +26 |

Using the 2023-2024 season as the barometer,
- 265 GF would put them in the top 10
- 230 GA would place them 6th
Finishing as above likely gets them in.
So grow the GF by 21 while cutting GA by 13.
Improving the Special Teams should go along way towards achieving that, coupled with bounce back years from Tage, Tuch, Cozens, Quinn and additional growth from Peterka and Benson.
