I'm predicting he makes it through Ruff's 2 year contract, then he is fired while Ruff takes over the GM responsibilities and Appert steps in as HC.
Bank on a couple Top 5 picks along the way - IonSabres
Gross. I'll be tank level checked out by then if they don't improve
I could have never imagined this level of futility and incompetence when pegula bought the sabres. In hindsight it makes too much sense a meddling owner and his dumb wife have brought us here |

All this talk about the skinner and the offense makes it easy to forget adams brought back the same group of defensemen who are mostly incapable or unwilling to protect and clear the net
Perhaps ruff is the answer to this problem. I cant imagine he will allow players to not even put a stick on someone on front of the goalie

Still some smoke with Philadelphia and Farabee. Wouldn't surprise me if a Deal happens just before Camp. - Buff36
That would be nice. Still weird that they can finish that deal.
Why wait so long. |

Think Briere is still a bit pissed about before the draft, and hoping for better. Still gonna cost another good prospect other than Krebs IMO |

Laine SHOULDN'T cost that much, completely agree. But he's still 26yo, is a year removed from 52pts in 55games and is a PP guru...so I have a sneaking suspicion someone will pony up more than that. But you make a good suggestion with $2M in retention. Apparently a deal was in place for him but required 50%, which CLB baulked at, so you may have something there. - QuinnFan
IMO Krebs and Johnson is an overpay for Laine |

I disagree, it’s about fair value but they could add a 4th |

Don't use Edge, he needs to call India for the 2 guys in a garage to add critical context |

Over payment.
Guy plays an average of 35gms a year at $8.5m
IF he recovers properly, maybe then it would be fair. |

Yeah? This was about what I was thinking it would take to be a winning offer. Would you do RyJo straight up? Can always dump Krebs. |

If he's super cheap, I don't see what we're waiting on. Dump Greenway and Clifton, add Laine on the cheap. Worst case scenario, you have some dead cap next year. Best case scenario you get a top6 forward for practically nothing. |

GM's this time of year are under no urgency and some prefer to play hard ball during the summer to see if they can drive up prices.
I would not include RyJo in any trade for him...same with Kulich and Rosen for that matter.
He's damaged goods and CBJ wants him out. Time is not on their side. |

"Helenius falling to the 14th pick was a coup for the Sabres. They traded back from No. 11 to add a second-round pick, and they used the additional draft capital to acquire fourth-line winger Beck Malenstyn from the Washington Capitals."
My new favorite Sabres trope: "I can't believe he fell to us at #X!"
Can you believe it, every year the player they wanted was available wherever they drafted. Truly amazing |

Never really thought of it that way, probably right.
And that's fair. I have to imagine SOMEONE will offer something of substance. Greenway is a body, but really low value. I'd imagine if we did that we'd need to eat most of that contract. $2m off makes that doable for us, but straight up is still rough.
So you'd just wait and see? I guess, how desperate do you think Adams is? Laine has the potential, if he works out, to save his job, that's my only reason for thinking we'd offer more to get something done. |

Fair. I know that's a steep price to pay. All I'm thinking of here is what a team like MTL could offer, without impacting their rebuild, to beat an offer like Greenway...wouldn't take much. |
