The Oilers acquired Podkolzin from Vancouver for a 4th round pick. - DarthKane
So they just added $1M to their cap, Holloway’s replacement? I have no idea what they’re going to do as far as those offer sheets, maybe keep Broberg and let Holloway walk? Who knows. |

Bedard is nowhere near Jonathan Toews ready to be captain. Foligno is the guy until his contract ends. He can show Bedard what the job is and then let Bedard take over. |

Typical Bowman move trade for an underachieving first round pick.
I'm thinking he's not matching Holloway.

I don’t think he’s matching either of them. KD is gonna help out by sending Sanford and Phillips over to take on Ceci and a high pick. 😁 |

Sarcasm.
So Bowman would be foolish to not keep Broberg. He has to hope Broberg has turned the corner on development and able to play well at the NHL. Where else can he get a descent dman. But he won't trade a high pick, either. If Holloway is moved, then sure Ceci goes but it won't cost him a lot. More of a give away than anything else. The SJ rumor made sense. Heck Bowman ought to offer both Holloway and Ceci to SJ for their 2nd '25 which could be top three in round two. |

Since Holloway was offer sheeted, Oilers can’t trade him, they have 2 choices, match the offer sheet or accept the 3rd rounder as compensation. |

They could match offer sheet then trade him, which seems too logical
They can then trade him for whatever, but not forced loosing him for a third. This seems too sensible |

Have to wait a year before trading s player that you matched the offer sheet.

You mean Stan didn’t have to attach a first round pick to move Ceci? Shocker |

Good trade by Stan. Got out of the Blues trap with low cost. Greer pooped the bed on that one.
Stan won two trades today.

I can still see Stan letting them both go, if he wants to resign Draisaitl and Bouchard next year. They can’t afford $4.5 mil. For someone who is still a 3rd pairing defenseman. |

Ya, good point. Things just don't look as bleak as yesterday for the Oilers

No they don’t. Maybe Stan learned something in his previous GM stint?

He has a year to sign two big names. He should at least sign Broberg. What deals he does later and the timing is speculative. Sign Broberg and he would have one more piece he could later trade |

Stan should have learned something after 2010... 2013... 2015... |

If Stan has any ideas at all about signing Draisaitl then he’s not keeping Broberg (unless there is some miraculous plan to trade Nurse). There simply isn’t enough cap space the next season to fit him in and ice a full squad.
They have 9 forwards and 6 d-man signed for 25-26 without Leon and about $67 M committed if my math is right. Add about $13M to that for one forward and see what that leaves you with. |

According to Kevin Weekes, Askarov has told the Preds he won’t be attending training camp and has asked for a trade. |

Entitled malcontent! Who would even want someone like that? |

Powers has provided his list of top Hawks young players - 23 years old and under.
1-5 Bedard, Levshunov, Vlasic, Korchinski, Moore
6-10 Nazar, Reichel, Kantserov, Boisvert, Dach
11-15 Vanacker, Kaiser, Rinzel, Lardis, Greene
16-20 Slaggert, Ludwinski, DelMastro, Hayes, Misiak
21-25 Commesso, Gajan, Allan, Savoie, Phillips
26-30 Crevier, Safonov, James, Mustard, Spellacy
Personally, I'm surprised DelMastro and Commesso are that low. Other Hawks prospect lists I have seen have them in the top 10. |

According to puck pedia, they can sign both players now but when Kane comes back they will have to make a move.
But if they only sign Broberg they won't have to make a move when Kane comes back?
Wonder if they are only keeping Broberg? Since they made that deal with the Canucks. |

It's possible and I've been seeing that same speculation going around. I guess we will find out soon. |
