According to puck pedia, they can sign both players now but when Kane comes back they will have to make a move.
But if they only sign Broberg they won't have to make a move when Kane comes back?
Wonder if they are only keeping Broberg? Since they made that deal with the Canucks. - BetweenTheDots
Yeah, I'm officially completely confused. I'm just gonna let it play out and provide bad commentary about it afterwards like normal. |

Powers has provided his list of top Hawks young players - 23 years old and under.
1-5 Bedard, Levshunov, Vlasic, Korchinski, Moore
6-10 Nazar, Reichel, Kantserov, Boisvert, Dach
11-15 Vanacker, Kaiser, Rinzel, Lardis, Greene
16-20 Slaggert, Ludwinski, DelMastro, Hayes, Misiak
21-25 Commesso, Gajan, Allan, Savoie, Phillips
26-30 Crevier, Safonov, James, Mustard, Spellacy
Personally, I'm surprised DelMastro and Commesso are that low. Other Hawks prospect lists I have seen have them in the top 10. - boilermaker100
Dach and Hayes should be switched on that list |

Yes I understand that Broberg salary would be too much. But if Kane is on injury list they have through minimum early season to alter the composition of the roster. By mid season who knows if three players could be swapped out for lower salary players. They may even promote an AHL player or find a veteran let go and perhaps the other team would pay part of his salary just to part ways. I do not believe Bowman should make a weak deal now especially regarding Broberg. I would rather gamble and count on Broberg to be pretty steady and contributing as a top four and therefore move Nurse for a song - I seem to recall a long term very overpaid deal on him so if anyone big name is chopped for a song, make it be Nurse. I do not know contractual terms for any if the players (other than Broberg and Holloway). Just saying Bowman can take his time but waiting until next trade deadline would be pushing it- maybe at deadline the final move or two? |

It's great to see the top of the list full of C and D. More talent in the pipeline makes these lists a bit more interesting.
To me, Kantserov/ Dach seem a bit high, but I know in the middle a lot less separates the players so it starts to become personal bias.

I agree, and my personal bias would have Del Mastro and Hayes higher than those two. I’d like to see these two with the Hawks after the TDL, if not before. |

The good news is that if they are with the Hawks it likely means that they've outplayed not only their peers in RFD, but shown enough that they'd be better than some of the NHL roster players.
...or that the Hawks were hammered by injuries again. |

Dach should not be that high, goalies should be separated. Many of these guys are in reality tied and who cares about non NHL players. |

All kinda arbitrary at this point - gotta have something to write about in August. Commesso is a fundamentals and shot angle guy. Not very sexy but it certainly served Crawford well. If he was a 6'6 athletic freak thats probs different.
I think for EDM it is a ceiling thing. Yeah he may end up being an ok pro but probably not a top 6 or impact player. I'd think more of a journeyman there. |

So they just added $1M to their cap, Holloway’s replacement? I have no idea what they’re going to do as far as those offer sheets, maybe keep Broberg and let Holloway walk? Who knows. - Angotti
Yeah, they are gone.

The wee Ruskie had a nice season and playoff playing against men as a 19 year old which isn't typical for that league.
If Russia wasn't Russia he'd probably be ranked even higher.
Dach can't stay healthy, doesn't have great feet and apparently isn't on any type of diet or strength training program since he's still a very skinny 6'4 195. Kind of surprised he's on the list. |

I read the piece but the way you condensed the list makes me look at it differently. As I look it this way my #1 takeaway is how damn lucky we are that Vlasic is a Hawk. Pretty good chance this damn near freakish skating giant is a 10 yr 1st pairing money in the bank partner to the systems best offensive Dman, whoever that ends up being.
But, if this list was made last yr where would Vlasic be on it? Inside the top 5, and if so he wasn't being looked at as a better than 50/50 shot at being a top pair type.
Conversely, where would Reichel be on last yrs list? Top 3? ....... Long way to go with the development, and its process, of 19-20-21 yr olds. Probably gonna be good surprises and bad but if another one or two Vlasic like good surprises happen the Hawks in 5 yrs are gonna be legit players.

Cam Robinson suggesting the Hawks go after Askarov.
https://x.com/Hockey_Robi...amp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet - boilermaker100
I get it, but to be honest, the more I hear about Commesso the more I like. Steady, technical goalie, who might get to the point where he can steal a few games for you. I never liked the idea of trying to fit a huge goalie salary under the cap. It's the one position that won't play every game whether healthy or not.
If the Hawks defense comes close to their ceiling, and forwards play the way they are drafted to be (fast, hard on the puck, etc.) they really shouldn't need an elite goalie. A "Crawford-Type" will work nicely and not murder the cap. |

Yeah, don't see the Hawks in in Askarov. Two years of Mrazek and Broissoit with Commesso getting a couple cups of coffee until he's ready. Then Gajan a year or two later. Hopefully a decent tandem.

I do not recall exactly what wiz said about being a good draft for goaltenders in either ‘25 or ‘26. I seem to recall that he said there will be quantity and to be determined if some of them will become early selections.
Waiting on Comesso is perfectly fine with me. No reason Mrzak and Comesso even in two seasons. Gajan needs to play AHL level before his trajectory is more apparent |

A 2nd and Laine for Jordan Harris - DarthKane
Harris at least has a couple NHL seasons under his belt. Wow. It will be interesting to see if/how Laine plays this year. This could either be really good for MTL, or saddle them with an albatross contract for another year. |

That doesn't sound right. I was told all day yesterday (not only on this board) that these moves were made so they could match on Broberg.
