Reminded me of that guy with the absolute hatred of Crawford years ago. Some shampoo name, like fineness or something.

Not a Blink fan but they carved out a pretty decent career. Also not a one hit wonder.

I would give them AA and one of Phillips/Crevier, keep the pick
- LAHawk

First just returned from visiting my father in Venice, Fl. Think someone on the board recommended JoeyD’s for dogs and Chicago beef. Ugggh food was nasty. Beef was watery, dogs (not Vienna beef) were left in the water too long, buns were hard. Never again.

Re: Laine

CBJ would need to retain and/or take back salary for this to work salary wise.

Before even thinking about this would want TT to reach out to talk to Laine to find out how he is doing (seeing as the team cannot talk to him directly). If his head is on straight could work.

Be willing to give up AA + 3rd for Laine 25% retained ($6.525 cap hit) $2.2 mil salary difference (might be a bit of an overpay depending on the market. If indications Laine is ok, think there will be a few teams looking).

Do not think there is a chance this happens or that the hawks are even contemplating this move, but interesting thought exercise.

Yes I am against trading any asset for Laine but I do understand the rationale. You and LAHawk present an exchange which is fair enough. A good case scenario is Hayes develops/ comes along and Laine would only be here one season. Laine should go back to Finland and put up good numbers. Thereafter an NHL team would be more keenly interested and Laine could sign a prove it/bonus ladden contract which should be more about games played and hopefully for Laine and the team a descent scoring output

Laine has 2 years left on his contract. Even if he went back to Finland before the deal is up, whoever has his rights has that cap hit on their books, no matter what part f the worked he plays in. I doubt Columbus buys him out.

Only over 35 contracts are allowed to have bonuses in them. ELC's have bonuses that are scheduled out in the CBA. Regular player contracts, bonuses are forbotten.

That being said, if KD feels the risk/reward for trading for Laine is worth it, I am all for it. Before last year (injury laden) he is basically a point per game player, they do not grow on trees.

So Laine wants out of Columbus. He by far isn't the only one who couldn't wait to leave his team, or wanted a change of scenery (Tkaczuk, Eichel, etc.). Outside looking in, you cannot conclude that Columbus is a well run hockey organization. He hasn't killed, raped, or committed any other type of felony that I know about. Maybe not being the main guy and playing second fiddle to Bedard would do wonders?

I think Laine could be worth the risk. He's only 25 with 2 years left on his deal. Laine's cap hit is huge and likely more than he's worth but cap space won't be an issue for the Hawks in the next 2 seasons. If CBJ wants to trade Laine without any salary retention then the cost should be reasonable. I think it's fair to say that barring any major injury Laine could be good for 20-30 goals and this roster needs that.

What I believe is that Laine wants fresh start from somewhere else. He lost his dad in end of 2021 which obviously was the main reason behind his mental issues.

Thank you for that.
One thought might help him a bunch: that he consider the gift/lift he has given so many hockey fans just by playing at such a high level. A lot of fans have similar issues and turn to guys like him for that moment of awesome hockey he can provide.

Davidson got lucky with Bedard

This offseason is D-

Goaltending will be better & Bertuzzi is ok but overpaid

The rest is HOT GARBAGE

Maroon is the slowest player in NHL by miles
Not even a 4th liner on a good Beer league team

Davidson is in over his head

- Goalie-33

Yes the Bedard draft was luck.

You rank the off-season as D-, based on what?

Bertuzzi, TT Maroon et all are stop gaps until the draft picks and prospects are ready, hopefully they will be solid NHL players.

So far I think Davidson has done a really nice jobs acquiring lots of prospects who hopefully become NHL regulars. Is Davidson the NHL’s best GM or even a good one? Too early to tell. Is Davidson in over his head? Again too early to tell. Do you dislike Davidson based on something other than what he’s done so far? Sounds like.

Bedard wasn't luck. The Bulls getting Derrick Rose was luck. The Bears getting the #1 pick two years in a row was luck. Bedard isn't close to those two happenings.

CBJ would need to retain salary or take back a player making near $3 million for Laine to fit under the cap and the hawks have a bit of wiggle room.

Pass, i know many gave me crap about Strome, but ultimately you are getting the same player, doesn't compete, so even if he scores a bunch of points he'll be part of the reason our defense is terrible when he's on the ice. We can just as easily lose with a guy who at least competes and has some hockey skill.

I admit it. I don't get the infatuation over Laine. Dude has has averaged 17 goals over the last 4 years. Oh, and is owed $9.1M in salary for the next two years. Let's say he pots 25. That's a mere $364,000 a goal. I mean, he's not being paid for his all around play. Just my opinion, people are reaching far too deep into the way-back machine. What the actual F?

Totally disagree with this being luck. Making maybe top 2 or 3 trades in the history of the sport to get those picks is not luck. It is a masterful job by a GM that you could have only dreamed about before it happened.

And neither is anything KD has done since he took over.

This narrative that a GM in Chicago only gets the credit when bad stuff happens is total BS.

Both Poles and KD have done very well overall since they took over. You can say that haven't won anything yet, you can say in your opinion they never will, but anyone who believes each hasn't done a wonderful job with the poop they were handed is just two seasons ago, is just not looking at it objectively.
