Can they wait the start of the season and putting Price on LTIR or they have to clear cap space now? Cant they be over 10% during the summer?
Pretty sure Hughes does not make that trade if the Habs cant afford it - deadpoulet
Would be nice if they could take that second they got from Columbus, tag it onto Dvorak, and send him somewhere with it.

From what I understand, adding Laine implies the Habs will have to move Price to "offseason" LTIR, which will basically make his contract not count on the cap.
The last few years, they managed to put Price's contract into "in season" LTIR, which allowed them to go over the cap during the injury.
So while that removes a little of their flexibility, they can afford Laine with room to spare since Price's deal was even more costly.

The situation sucks for them but they were "stuck" with needing to resign Draisaitl.
Oh well, good on St-Louis for using the offersheet correctly. Wish it would happen more. |

No they did not. According to oilers fans and media, McDive, Crysaitl and Battleship Face were all going to take less money to make it work in Edmonton. |

He could write a blog
by the way, it benefits Price much more than the team |

I feel like the overall situation of the Habs hasn't changed.
Injuries will dictate how well they perform.
The best case scenario just got better with Laine in the lineup. - Scabeh
Hasn’t changed? We just added a 40 goals scorer for a 2nd and we got rid of a bottom pairing soft D |

You could say they added Dach and Laine to the lineup, given how little Dach played last year.
Big boost, if as you say, they both stay healthy. - Mashadar

I like Laine.
I'm curious where he'll fit, and there are warts, but he cost basically nothing and like all guns you just need to make sure he's pointed in the right direction. |
