Price can’t be on LTIR before the season starts?

Why?

- pete26

I think he can but its not the best for the Habs if they want to save full cap hit or something

dont quote me on that

I know they do not need to trade anyone, but trading someone like Dvorak would probably make the line-up more cohesive.

I mean, I guess they could trade Evans as well, but I like that guy.

We will see.

Trading Dvorak and Barron would be great. I’d rather see a kid play that RD and make mistakes instead of Barron. He’s still got value…or some sort of value.

As for Dvorak? Newhook can do the job on the 3rd line and Dvo can most probably still fetch a decent pick or prospect.

I can live with Andy up and down the lineup…I mean he’ll bounce back right?

Right?

There’s a different amount of saving a team can get when using off season ltir versus regular season ltir.

They don't even have to trade anyone at the moment, they can send on paper a couple guys to Laval to be cap compliant with Price on the roster the day before the the season starts then after the Leafs game, put Price on LTIR and call back those guys. That way they don't lock in their cap situation and can benefit from having the cap space from Price contract for the whole season.

They would need to go down to a 20 men roster for the Leafs game then right after call back a couple guys that were sent down.

HuGo can afford to be patient until they get the value they want for the assets they are open to move

Basically, if they can fit Price's salary on the team's cap when the season begins, it gives them the possibility to go over the cap up to the value of his contract if needed.

If they can't make his contract fit on the team when the season begins, his contract won't count on the cap. Which is fine, but gives us less flexibility.

I think this is obviously a make or break season for him.

He really needs consistency and to stop with the turn overs, not only in his own zone defensively, but also when trying tog et the puck up the ice. Seems like every second pass he makes gets picked off.

Pinching in offensively is somewhat iffy, but I can live with that part of the game for now.

With Mailloux and Reinbacher on the verge of playing in the NHL, Barron does need to take a step and convince management he's a NHL player. Otherwise, he'll likely be traded or be seen as a #7th defenseman in Montreal.

I love the package he represents and he has shown flashes of being good enough. But his lack of consistancy is killing him.

When was the last time we had so many promising prospects?

I think people are just excited to see what these kids can do, and if someone is blocking their path to the NHL, there should be a good reason for that.

Barron has (at least) 2 guys trying to take his spot.

In my case, the impatience is not so much with Barron's progression path, but the promise of better players waiting to join the club.

If Barron puts it together. Amazing.

If not, move on.

They gave him an offer so they still believe in him otherwise he would be gone. He is 22. Still very young for a defenseman. Dont forget that Savard wont be here forerver and that Ghule plays on his bad side right now
