Maybe the Flyers hired a PI to trail him and they have video of him on a jet ski or break dancing at the Olympics |

Doctors can be paid to say anything. I think part of this at least is a genuine diagreement between the Flyers medical staff and the so-called independent doctor. Also consider players have to go through a physical when trades are made, and the Flyers could have balked if their medical staff found a serious, career threatening injury, which of course they didn't. - jd250
As someone married to a physician and personal friends with several, your first sentence is highly offensive.

In some instances it is true is it not? Some doctors are dirty and some doctors are paid to push a certain brand of medication.

Maybe, but if so, just more incompetence from the Flyers. - MJL
Why do you always blame the Flyers for everything? Where is your loyalty? IMO Overhardt gave Quitter very bad advice. He is also at the center of the RYJO mess, and yet you want the Flyers to get another one of this clients? Why? So Buium can state he will never play for the Flyers also and demand a trade? No thank you! |

I don't think he means ALL doctors. If you think that there's not a segment of physicians that are greasy then you have your head in the clouds. |

So you don't think its at least plausible that an agent has a doctor he sends his clients to in order to create evidence to support his claim? |

My old family doctor bragged to me once about a all expenses paid cruise him and his wife had just returned from. He told me that the pharmaceutical companies do this all the time and it's just a perk of the job. He clearly didn't see anything wrong with it. If you saw the massive box of various pills he had my father on your jaw would drop. Greasy bastard
That being said, I have numerous doctors in my own family that are in it for the right reasons.

LOL. You're not paying attention. Why do I always have to explain things to you? I just recently stated that if the Flyers are successful in getting out of the Johansen contract, it is a good move by them. I have also replied to a number of posters that at this point in time, I don't see that the Flyers have done anything wrong in the Johansen situation.
Now that we've got that out of the way.
Overhardt works for KO sports. A major sports agency that has well over 100 NHL contracts. Including with current Flyers such as Joel Farabee. His job is to represent his clients, protect their rights and do what their clients ask. There is no evidence that I'm aware of that shows that the Gauthier situation developed due to bad advice given to him by his agent. If his client told him he wants to be traded and play for a new team. He can advise him on that but ultimately, it is his responsibility to represent his client and make it happen. Same with Johansen. It is his job to protect and represent his client.
It is inconceivable moving forward for the Flyers to avoid clients of KO sports. As it is a large company. It would be malpractice on the Flyers part to avoid taking a better player, due to who the agent is. If the Flyers passed on Buium strictly based on who his agent is, that is incompetence on their part.

That agent and doctor would both be risking their careers to do so.

Dude, the Flyers already HAVE one of his other clients. They also traded for one last summer in the midst of all of the Gauthier stuff and then discussed an extension with that player.
If the Flyers are alienating an agency on purpose that already represents a ton of NHL players and presumably future prospects, that's terrible business. Maybe even worse than the reasoning of 'we have Andrae in our system' for passing on Buium. |

A PoHO that has never worked in an NHL front office in any capacity whstsoever.
An inexperienced GM whose minuscule hands on experience came under the stewardship of a grossly incompetent GM
A overbearing, narcissistic and petty tyrant of a head coach who holds grudges and plays favorites.

Apparently there's a wedding video showing that he picked up his bride off her feet... which would be pretty low to hold against him even if it's a smoking gun. - Tomahawk
What ever happened to it is a cut throat business? It is ok to demote a valued vet on your team instead of doing him a favour and buying him out so he can play elsewhere in the NHL but if a guy who claims he has an injury and is out there doing things he shouldnt be doing then it's low?
Lifting 100+ lbs is def not helping his hip. He hasnt made anything easy on the Flyers either since the trade.

A act has to rise to the level of terminating a contract. I don't think dancing at your wedding and picking up your bride qualifies. There has to be more to it.

Agree.
They have to have more. Maybe he was caught doing something else that if someone had such a career ending injury shouldn't be doing? I don't think you take this step without something to bring to the table because you know the player and NHLPA will grieve it. |

Here's what gets me in this whole situation, Ryjo was playing everyday for Colorado but once the trade was made and the Flyers wanted to send him to the ahl his injury popped up and he suddenly couldn't be sent down.
This is nothing but a case of a self entitled player who really has pulled this poop everywhere he has been. Columbus got rid of him because his contract demands compared to his play didn't match up. Then in Nashville they gave him every opportunity to succeed but since he got paid he just coasted around and collected a check. In colorado he was playing 3rd line mins and was almost invisible for most of the year. This player has no internal drive but to make money, he doesnt care about winning or the cup he wants money.
Flyers made the trade to acquire RYJO for the first round pick this year, The injury was nothing but an excuse to not be sent to the AHL where he would make 1million less. Like I said this player is all about money and nothing else. |

It can be when its against your rehab or whatever you want to call it. Fact is the whole thing is odd because if he just sucks it up and goes to the minors, he can play a game, "get hurt" and collect his cash, he gets more of it due to no escrow.
This whole thing is not doing him any favours because after this year after his struggles, the rumours about his attitude, it is heavily implied that RyJo is one of the ppl Toews was ranting on during the season and now he's crying injury after playing through whatever injury he has and deciding now he cant play because hes being sent to the minors. This kind of reinforces the bad attitude narrative.

About the surgery, I agree that if your injured in march or before and need surgery then you get it done in april and start the rehab process to be ready for the season, but RYJO is waiting so he can get the surgery done at the start of the season and be out the whole season then look for a new contract next july.
I hope the FLyers win this, because I hate players like this, just bad for the game. |

I will say, if there’s one scenario I’d power through an injury regardless of optics, lifting up my wife at my wedding would be it.
Hope they have more than that |

Flyers made the trade know
ing the player...his history and the injury. They did it to get a draft pick. Flyers were fully aware of the situation and fact they didnt anticipate his response in on them. Guy is a loser and Flers knew it going in. |
