Nashville retained 4 mil when they sent him to the avs so his cap hit for us is 4 mil correct? I thought it was 8. - Hextall271
Yes, it is 4.

Flyers made the trade know
ing the player...his history and the injury. They did it to get a draft pick. Flyers were fully aware of the situation and fact they didnt anticipate his response in on them. Guy is a loser and Flers knew it going in. - hfc355
I don’t know Ryan Johansson. I’m certainly not going to go by what I’ve “heard” because I really haven’t heard that awful of a story yet. I will say, he could very well be a loser but you know what? In this situation, so are the Flyers. |

NHL player doesn’t want to be sent down. What a crazy thought. - roenick97
His career is done and he knows that. He wants his paycheck in full. He doesnt want to be bought out. He is not capable of playing in the NHL, If he was he wouldnt put up this much of a fight to stay when he could just freely sign elsewhere. No one wants him. |

How could you possibly know that he knows his career is done? Do you like being paid in full? I know I do.
I'm reading two different assumptions from fans on this board. He coasts and he doesn't work hard or he's cooked. In my opinion, it can only be one. What's interesting to me is that a cooked/not trying Johansson could score two more goals in less games than our captain in a third line role. |

of course it is, the two parties can settle on a agreement. - jd250

so now it isnt because they loved some Jett?
flyers should have just paid the man his money and put him IR. Then move on. At thr end of the day more bad than can come out of this. another bad PR hit. - hello it's me 2050
Both can be true, in that the Flyers passedo on Buium because of thie recent history with this agent and college players, and they also loved Jett. If the Flyers win it can be a big PR boost. From what I understand RYJO is pretty much hated around the league. I bet a lot of people around the NHL would like to see him lose this case. |

If the Flyers win the contract termination, it's not going to be a big PR boost. However, if they lose it, it will be a big PR hit.

So with Edmonton not matching contracts and trading away CeCi, what are the chances they do not make it to the final 4? And therefore getting a better draft pick. |
|
|
|
I do not think the Flyers cared about the last 20ish games of last year. They do want to send him down or trade him this year though. His "injury" situation is impeding that option.
I think it is pretty clear that RyJo could play if he wanted to. He did all last season up until the trade. The Flyers are exercising an option that is available to them. No more. No less. - mickel25
If Ryjo could play if he wanted to like you say then why not just let the Flyers retain some salary and trade him. I agree he doesnt want anything to do with the Flyers but I doubt he could play if he wanted to |

My personal opinion is that the chances are good that they don’t make it that far this year. They lucked into a good path to the final imo by avoiding Vegas and Colorado and having Dallas take care of them and end up in the semis out of gas. I just don’t see them exactly the same as Florida. The Oilers and goaltending aren’t as strong. We’ll see but I could certainly see a regression to a first or second round loss. |

So you don't think its at least plausible that an agent has a doctor he sends his clients to in order to create evidence to support his claim? - jd250
No. That would be malpractice on a very high level and risk of loss of medical license. If it then led to uncessary procedures that were billed to medical insurance you can add insurance fraud to those charges.

Nashville had to retain salary to get rid of him. Colorado wa Ted him gone. He has a reputation of being a cancer. He 32 and getting slower.

Not to mention that Overhardt is a top NHL agent who works for one of the top player agencies in KO sports. They have well over hundreds of millions in active NHL contracts. Agents have to be certified by the league. Imagine if they got caught having a shady doctor making fraudulent diagnosis and medical reports?

I don't think he means ALL doctors. If you think that there's not a segment of physicians that are greasy then you have your head in the clouds. - dramado
There's bad apples in any business but to make the statement that " doctors can be paid to say anything" is a terrible thing to say.

My old family doctor bragged to me once about a all expenses paid cruise him and his wife had just returned from. He told me that the pharmaceutical companies do this all the time and it's just a perk of the job. He clearly didn't see anything wrong with it. If you saw the massive box of various pills he had my father on your jaw would drop. Greasy bastard
That being said, I have numerous doctors in my own family that are in it for the right reasons.
Crappy people exist in all walks of life. - dramado
I believe there is now a law or industry rule against this sort of glad handing or kickbacks

Exactly.
A fraudulent diagnosis and faking medical reports is a serious offense. To do that so some player doesnt have to play in the AHL would be astonishingly stupid.

Yes. I didn’t add that fact. Injuries happen all the time to everyone so who knows. It’s just such a grind to get to where the oilers did and also come back from down 3 0 just to lose a game 7. Gotta be crushing. |

Give me a well known story about him being a cancer. What have you heard the last few years about Ryan Johansson. |
