I think you did a good job synthesizing the mood from the people in the thread (and I think the majority of the fanbase) since the trade was announced - cautiously optimistic, excited about what this could mean from pure offensive perspective, all while knowing this is not the piece that gets the Habs to the playoffs but perhaps one of the pieces that eventually gets them there.
If Laine scores 25-30 goals / 60 points and plays 70+ games, this is a win for the Habs.

I honestly have no idea.
He says it will fuel him. You can always point to his years in Winnipeg where hockey is more important than Columbus to think that's true.
But there are also reports of him being very hard on himself at times when things go badly... If that's the case, he might have a hard time if things don't get going right out of the gate.
Overall, I think if he remains healthy, he'll be very good. - Scabeh
I think if his body holds up, no injuries, I think he does well... not spectacular, but well. Laine knows this is likely his last big shot, and he will be pushing for that big contract in 2 years.
I do not think Montreal or that focused pressure will impact him.... at least, from what he has said (and Hughes agreed).

although you could argue that any player coming to MTL will say the same kind of thing (great organization, rich history, greatest fans, can't wait to play at the Bell, bla bla bla) I did find he sounded genuine with his answers when asked about it. how he'll handle it all remains to be seen, but I highly doubt things go horribly wrong for him, considering who he'll possibly be playing with, and the coaching staff to help him out through tougher times.
Great blog, hope they remove the guest blogger title soon.
2 points I haven’t seen addressed:
-by absorbing his full contract I believe it puts us close enough to the cap to essentially maximize Price’s LTIR.
-I don’t recall the exact amount of 1 goal games we lost but has to be around 30. That’s a lot of extra points towards a potential playoff spot if Laine can hit the 30G mark.

good point. if you add to that a healthy Dach and fewer injuries to the lineup in general they should technically be able to show a significant improvement from last year's standings.
Just found the answer, we lost 36 games by a goal or less( not sure what or less means)
We win 20 of those and we win the presidents trophy. Unrealistic to be sure but that’s how much of an impact those losses defined our position in the standings.
I for one am pumped to see what this healthy lineup can do!

If we can just win half of those 1 goal losses....
I just want us to not be out of the picture by Christmas
I didn't know Demidov struggled that much with English, it obviously made the interview a bit harder for everyone, but you can tell the kid is confident AF.
the only thing I wish is that they hadn't removed the debates surrounding other players that weren't drafted by the habs, but NHL teams never talk about guys that aren't part of their own organization, so I guess that was to be expected.
edit: the Michael Hage story is pretty awesome too, and he could actually end up being a very good player for the habs, I wish him the best
