I know gramps, it's all good, we did the same when my grandmother passed away in June. having a few laughs after the funeral was actually a relief. |

I am 100% sure that contract is insured.
I actually cringe at the GoFundMe for his brother's wife... life FFS there is more than enough money in that family to go around.
I know I am a cranky old bastard.
But still seems pathetic to me.

yeah, we did the same, but the old man was 89. not 29.
losing a child must be the most difficult thing.
imagine losing 2. |

maybe they will just donate it to a charity or start a foundation if they in fact don't need the money.
i know the team can insure the contract against career ending injuries and if he had any kind of decent financial planner, gaudreau would have a life insurance policy but i don't know how it works in this case. |

Yes, Johnny was well off and the wealth he has left behind could certainly help his brother's family as well. However, we can't assume that to be the case because there are variables we cannot account for.
Matthew was a career minor leaguer, and the family may need immediate financial aid which Johnny's grieving widow may not be in the right place to cut a check.
And the family just faced an unimaginable tragedy, I don't see the need to slide in a pathetic. |

oh I was not trying to compare the situations or anything, just pointing out that laughter is pretty much always a positive thing. in this case I'm aware there's nothing to laugh about at all for the family and anyone involved, it's just a horrible tragedy, really. |

who started it anyway..? if it's a friend of the family I sort of get it, as people are basically powerless when facing such a situation, and I guess they felt it was one of the only positive things to do. |
