Carolinas goalies are suspect like the flyers goalies are - WhiskeyMan
Not true. Frederick Anderson is a solid goalie. He just needs to stay healthy. Kochekov has a lot of promise.

The knock on Anderson and his health goes as far back to his playing time in Toronto. He cannot be counted on. And he his 34
Kochekov has potential yes, is he ready to be a starter?

And goaltending still has not been an issue for them in the regular season. Good try though. |

I am listening to Egor Zamula's interview to slipperyice.ru
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsbOFGN7QTY&t=475s
I wish there was a synchronized translation.
A few points:
1. Huge respect to Torts and his ability to elevate young players and for his just approach to ice time distribution. Also, why Zamula was benched after the injury and what Torts taught him. Says the player's salary does not mean anything to Torts. if you don't perform, you don't play. Said he would want Torts to train a Russian team to install a system
2. Praised new era of orange for revamping infrastructure (locker room, training facilities, etc.) hiring new medical staff, chefs etc.
3. Also praised GMDB and Jonesy.
4. Talked about his help to Fedotov
5.As per Zamula, Chuck Fletcher does not like Russian players as, apparently, he was badly beaten in Moscow requiring ICU stay.
6. Zamula threatened to return to Russia by the end of Chuck's Philadelphia career. AGMDB asked him to stay and promised promotion to NHL.
7. Boston is most difficult team to play against for Zamula
8. Tort's training camp has been the hardest exercise ever for Zamula- Torts evaluates character rather than fitness.

The thing with this is that teams trading for either of them will not be teams that have a top ten pick. It will be teams picking in the 20's. So unless they can somehow package picks to move up, which rarely if ever happens, the best pick they have will most likely be their own. - MBFlyerfan
What I meant was if Briere trades enough veterans, the team will lose enough games to get into the top 10. Like last year, that swoon at the end dropped the Flyers from around 17 to 12. I agree that teams are not trading out of the 10, unless its a gross overpay. That is why my guess is the Flyers trade their picks for established players. |

The team experienced a steep drop off after trading Walker and it was noticeable. They had a lot of trouble clearing the zone and on pk. The d corps this year doesn’t look special and I think they’ll struggle. I can see them missing the playoffs by quite a margin in a competitive east with many teams rebounding (ie NJ). Lat year I think they caught some teams by surprise and got lucky with off years by some teams. This year, I don’t think that happens especially if the goaltending falters. |

Why are you moving a post that is not yours from one thread to another? That will go well for you. LOL
You aren't. You made the statement that Hextall did not draft well. The standard that you used in the past to rate Flahr's drafting was that if a player drafted played 200 games, it was a good pick. If your standard was used, that means that Hextall drafted well. Hextall drafted 8 players that meet that criteria in 4 drafts.
You also further disqualified yourself from having any credibility in rating players by stating that Celebrini is not at Michkov's level. - MJL
I have watched Celebrini live, have you? He is a good prospect for sure, but I don't think he is going to light up the NHL as some have suggested. He is not Crosby by any means. Michkov has been called a generational talent, approaching the level of Bedard. We'll see how it plays out since neither player has played a pro game yet, though I would argue Michkov has played in tougher leagues and against pro players, while Celebrini has not.
I know it hurts you, but the bottom line is Hextall did not draft well, at least not well enough to keep his job, and certainly not well enough to have a job right now in the NHL. You can twist and turn it all you want. And BTW, I did not post my standard for a good or great draft, but what the standard is for NHL scouting departments in terms of rating a draft. Sure playing 200 NHL games is good, but playing 200 games as a top 4 defenseman or a top 6 forward is much more impactful than playing on the 4th line. You need to take this into account. And you cannot dismiss the results with Provorov and Patrick, they were both big misses for Hextall.

Walker was gone, Seeler was injured, RR was injured and Drysdale was injured. Having 4 starting D would hurt any team, but for a team like the Flyers it was especially bad.

pretty much. just baffles me how peeps look at this roster and think otherwise.
Even #88 took several years to make playoffs despite him being dominate. This assumes MM is even on that level.
The D and goaltending is below average. - hello it's me 2050
To be fair the goaltending could get better, generally it takes 7 months for a khl goaltender to adapt to the North American hockey, and the other was a rookie
And rookies only get better.
I definitely expect to miss the playoffs. I'm just hoping by a large margin. |

I agree that last year the Devils struggles really opened the door for the Flyers. I don't see that happening again. I think the Rangers and Devils will be 1 and 2 in the Metro, but after that it will still be a tight race for the 3rd and 4th spots. I not big on Carolina as some on this forum are, they are good, but not great, and the Flyers usually play them pretty well. In general, the Flyers play all the teams in the Metro pretty well, so its for this reason I think the Flyers will be there until the end again this year, and what they do at the deadline will tell us Briere's real plan, rebuild or playoff bubble team. |

he has proven they like and value certain players. those players, who have some degree of value, will not be traded and some have already been re-signed. Same roster as last season more or less.
When was the last time the flyers even traded a prospect who they drafted within the 2 years to make a hockey trade? Excluding cutter obviously. |

sure it coulsd get better. it could also stay static or get worse.

Here you go again with trying to use fallacies to support your opinions. It's irrelevant that you have watched Celbirini play as it has been proven time and time again, that you have zero ability to accurately assess anything in the game of hockey. Bottom line is that you again, made a fool of yourself in stating that Michkov puts the Flyers ahead because SJ doesn't have a player at that level.

It doesn't hurt me, it makes me laugh. How you constantly change your opinion on how you rate something depending on your biases and uninformed opinions. That standard is one you adopted and used to support Flahr. It's origin doesn't matter and it's another example of how easily influenced you are by what you read or hear. Whether Hextall actually drafted well or not, was not the point.

what a year they will have to be there in the end. such lofty expectations. "jonesy" will then strut around like a peacock.
the 3 stooges will say they are going to build on that. then the focus will be the 2026 draft.
flyers will be bottom 3 in conference. at least 10 points out of the 8th spot. |

It is an issue when your #1 goalie only plays 16 games in a regular season and you start him in the playoffs.. Both goalies save % significantly dropped and their goals against went up compared to the regular season. This is not what you want from your goalies.
Anderson - 16 1.84 .932 3 13-2-0 Playoffs 10 2.62 .895
Kocketov - 42 2.33 .911 4 23-13-4 Playoffs 1 2.96 .880
Compared to BOB
58 2.37 .915 6 36-17-4 Playoffs 24 2.32 .906
Even the NHL writers says their lose in the playoffs was in part due to poor goaltending. They showed spunk against the Rangers but everyone knew they would lose.
Regular season means crap when you get the playoffs.

The Flyers training camp roster
Left Wings (5)
Noah Cates, Nicolas Deslauriers, Elliot Desnoyers, Oscar Eklind, Joel Farabee
WOW! This has to strike fear across the league!
Centers (11)
Rodrigo Abols, Jon-Randall Avon, Denver Barkey, Sean Couturier, Morgan Frost, Rhett Gardner, Scott Laughton, Jett Luchanko, Ryan Poehling, Anthony Richard, Massimo Rizzo
Anxious to see how Rizzo stacks up. Heard some good things about Abols and Gardner, and Richard is a competent NHL 4th liner. All eyes on Jett however!
Right Wing (10)
Bobby Brink, Tyson Foerster, Alexis Gendron, Garnet Hathaway, Travis Konecny, Olle Lycksell, Matvei Michkov, Owen Tippett, Samu Tuomaala, Zayde Wisdom
Yeah Baby!!!! Let's Go! I would really love to see Lycksell make the team but its a numbers game at RW. Maybe he can move to LW.
Defense (16)
Emil Andrae, Ronnie Attard, Louie Belpedio, Oliver Bonk, Jamie Drysdale, Ryan Ellis (IR), Adam Ginning, Helge Grans, Erik Johnson, Hunter McDonald, Rasmus Ristolainen (IR), Ethan Samson, Travis Sanheim, Nick Seeler, Cam York, Egor Zamula
Looking forward to seeing Louie Belpedio in the starting lineup |

The only one making a fool out of himself is you. You have no eff'n clue about San Jose's prospects. You have never even seen them play. You only know what you read, in fact you wouldn't even know anything about Will Smith if it were not for me. Beyong Celebrini, Smith and Richard1nson you can't even pronounce their names for peete's sake!

We are talking about teams making the playoffs dipsh!t. It’s why I specifically called out the regular season . Another reading comprehension issue. The context was the flyers potentially making the playoffs. You claimed the canes had goalie issues when in fact they do not. They’ve made due the last 6-7 years in the regular season with no issues. |
