let's overpay for a difference maker instead of a guy to round out the roster - homiedclown
100%. I think I'd be less mad if we had traded 5 firsts for Ehlers without an extension. I'd be scared, but at least we brought in someone with the power to help end the drought. Personally, I think the 13 year playoff drought is the biggest thing holding us back. |

Farabee difference maker or Patrick Laine difference maker? - DirtyDan
Opinions vary, but I really think he's a good one. Time will tell if the 50pt season was a flash in the pan or not though. |

Ehlers is as available as Helly was last year. They ain't getting rid of him. They already can't get people to that arena why get worse..

It's really a nothing burger.
We have the prospects and future picks to overpay... no that's actually what i heard leading up to the off season and even after the draft.
Just don't overpay for that guy cause we could of had a 5'10 D-man - DirtyDan
Overpay for a difference maker not 4th line replacement level players its really not hard to understand the frustration

all we had to do was move on from joker or greenway and we would have had the cap space for laine |

Who got hurt and was turrible to end the year. who doesn't play D or back check. Who looks incredible one game and then the most furious player to watch the next.
The coach didn't want to coach him. If it was Kevyn's choice I bet he is still here |

Farabee or Laine or is there some other "difference" maker that was available for the LW spot?

Good GMs solve these problems
Also have what 8.5 in space this year? For some reason gave 5 to zucker. Its laughable to enter this season as the roster stands

bought him out for zucker
a team that struggles to score removes a player that was plus 13 over the last 2 years and scored 92 goals over the last 3 years for a guy who was -13 over the last 2 years and scored a fraction of those goals over the last 3 years

So he scored 92 over the last 3 but a plus 13 over the last 2...
Why not use the same timeline for both? Cause he might not look as good?
He was a minus over those 3 years and scored 59 goals over those 2 years |

A rookie, a druggy, another rookie and a locker room cancer walk into a bar... one wants a trade from the city, one needs his pills to feel better, one separates his shoulder and the other doesn't feel at home.

It would not be a talking point if the GM did something to replace the scoring.
Now we must expect Benson to take a big step Quinn to stay healthy and some other rookie to have a healthy contribution just to break even on that lost production
This doesn't even account for mittelstadts production loss |

Zucker scores 20, Benson takes a step, Quinn plays a full year and your top 6 players returning to form should suffice.
Add in your offensive D being productive, the defense being better Infront of the net and UPL playing on par with last year or better.

The disrespect to Zach Benson is over.

@LLysowski
First look at James Reimer in a Sabres practice jersey and setup.
He's facing shots from Zach Benson and Brett Murray following a player-run captains' practice.

As I said, you get an impactful player, then there's a chance of a high impact player. I did not say there was a 30% chance of getting a high impact player. However, from RoR to Pominville, we should know this is feasible.
Beck is 100% a unimpactful player. So your argument is flawed from the get go as you're approaching this as if Beck has any substantive impact on the team's outlook...he doesn't at all. That 2nd rounder had a chance to. We traded a chance for nothing. - QuinnFan
So trading an asset that has a 70% chance of NOT playing 100 games for a guy who has 100% already eclipsed that threshold and produced well in his role as a 4th liner is a bad deal?
You argument relies on a Lotto Ticket hitting to have any substance.
We'll agree to disagree. As I see no benefit of continuing down the path. |

You're definitely insinuating he is. Furthermore, you go on to list his qualities when he isn't that good at any of those things, including scoring. He had 6 goals last year and he's providing tertiary scoring??? Come on my friend, that's stretched to breaking point.
But conversely, if he's bad, and you agree he is, then why defend the trade in the first place? Because he fits a role? Again, this is how bad teams stay bad.
Those are the qualities of your typical energy guy...or replacement level player. Let's be serious, ANY other team gets him for peanuts. Adams is getting frantic and trying to trade for anyone with a pulse. You can like the fact they added some hitting without liking the price paid. I really don't see this as the right hill to die on, it's a comically bad return for us. - QuinnFan
How many points are you looking for from a 4th liner?
15, 20, 25, 30? |
