Still a 4 to 8 week recovery time.

Depending on severity. And that's better than the alternative which would keep him out for the year most likely.

Oh agree, definitely glad it wasn't a Grade 3.

He looked lost on the TD but hopefully he can settle in
- Hank Balling

I missed that. I'll check it out. He made a few tough tackles in the open field and I was hooting and hollering for him.

I just read that its just a strain not a tear. So good news there.

Yeah, big news for us. If we have another LB injury we're in rough shape and there's a lot of football left to play.

Also after week one where the defense looked like a hot mess which was only 4 days ago.

It could be that Mcermott knows how to stop the dolphins offense and it wasn’t that hard to prepare for

- Sabretooth9

In all fairness, the defense looked bad for one half of the first game of the year. They didn't allow a TD to an arguably top5 offense for the second half of that game.

I have so much respect for McDermott. Whether it's him or Babich, the adjustments at half time so far have been *chef's kiss*.

Is it me or was Spector the steadier LB once Bernard went out?
- QuinnFan

He was playing MLB and Williams was playing weakside

perhaps Ulofoshio or Andreesen get the MLB spot next monday, or Morrow

we said that when we lost edmunds
and then when milano went down

then when he went down again

and now with Bernard down

perhaps their scheme makes it easy for lb's and db's as it seems like no issue with plug and plays back there for the last 2 or 3 years

that D held the cardinals to a field goal in the second half

aside from the running qb, they did fine after the first few drives

we play lamar in 2 weeks, then richardson in early november

let's see how they adjust to those 2 guys

That 1st Half against the Cardinals looked like learning session for Babich and McDermott. See what pieces they had in a real game environment and went in at Half and have made adjustments as needed since.

I think McDermott is also just that good as a defensive mind. I also heard Sal make a point on WGR today about how a lot of the depth players like Ingram and Lewis have been in the system for years and the organizational stability has allowed that depth to flourish and be ready when the time comes.

I say all of this as somewhat of a McDermott hater because I think he makes big gaffes in big playoff moments but his defenses are consistently top 10 or top 5 and even I, as a hater, have to respect that

Fun game so far. My observations:

- kulich looks amazing. On top of his skill, he is physical and aggressive. He looks fully acclamated to North America and ready to play center in the league. Outside shot at 2c with cozens sliding over?
- all of the top prospects look great. Helenious is as advertised.
- the two Russian kids look really good. I think both play in the league
- komarov looks lost. Rough night
- if kisakov or Kozak ever had a window, it is closed
- the only other guy that stood out is pacha, who is regularly getting his hat handed to him.
- Marty Biron is much taller than I remember

The franchise has earned that tbh. What I'm about to say will sound like sour grapes but I genuinely don't mean it that way:

There is a pretty robust niche online market for Sabres bloggers like Chad D and various others like Ghofrani, but the Sabres were so afraid of negative press that they decided to deny press badges to bloggers because they were afraid of negative publicity. They wanted a single outlet that they could control which became Lance and the BN. The result of that is a shrinking of the online brand presence of the Sabres. They've earned every bit of this

Kulich is the only one who has stood out to me. Clearly coming in bigger and stronger.

First game against a big team, who is pushing them around. Not taking too much away from it.

I don't know, think this site is in a death spiral because it doesn't attract new viewers. Don't think it has much to do with the Sabres.

You, Sabres, have already lost, for as you can see, I have depicted you as the feckless, crying soyjack.

In all seriousness, this is the result of the insular, insecure nature of Sabres ownership and management. They were so concerned about their messaging without realizing that brand interest is far more important than 100% of your fans agreeing with the messaging. The result is a mix of anger and indifference to the few brand-certified voices when there should be a wider swath of interest in diverse opinions.

What youre saying in a joking way is absolutely correct- Mockery and irony should have a place in the Sabresphere and would draw interest, but ownership is so scared of being mocked that they'd rather lose viewers and dollars than tolerate any jabs

Well yes.

Niche online markets like this have been replaced by FB, X (the everything app) and Reddit. That goes for niche media of all types. Websites like this are dying or have died
