torst will pick the next coach imo. unless there is a huge falling out. - hello it's me 2050
Wasnt the whole point of him sitting out games and watching from press box to evaluate Shaw for his replacement?

I think its unlikely both Gs struggle. Flyers IMO are only commited to Fedotov for this season. If he is awful I se a scenario where they both part ways. Flyers would demote him and I doubt Fedotov wants to play in the AHL so I could a see a mutual termination happen and Fedotov goes back and plays in the KHL. If they diod struggle I dont think Flyers do much. Briere said he was OK missing the playoffs again. I dont think anyone would be upset if we got a high pick.
That being said I think the Goaltending will be solid. Fedotov should be able to adjust and adapt his ability to the NHL. It will be interesting to see if they start as a tandem or with Ersson as the #1. I dont want to see a repeat of last year where the backup plays 2 games in October...... - xShoot4WarAmpsx
- it is not unlikely at all as neither has an nhl track record of success.
-guess termination is the new buzzword. so you see the ivan giving up 3.5 million to go home to russia?
- where did you see Briere say he is ok missing the playoffs? he has said playoffs is the goal going forward a few months back |

no idea or he was just being lazy and threw in the towel at that point.
funny how he has said he didn't learn anything from sitting up there. something to that effect.

Doesnt matter. It makes sense for both parties if the Flyers wont play him. It isnt like he cant make that money in the KHL
Deslaurier is not going to play Brink will. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
he wont make 3.5 in the khl. |

Maybe. I am not sure but I think the coaching staff needs a new look. If the plan is to have Shaw, then I'd want two new assistants. While it's not all on the coach, at a certain point, PP futility has to be addressed. It's not just that they can't score, it's that it's so static and predictable.. To me that's at least partly coaching. |

You really think after the circumstances he faced, Fedotov will be itching to get back to the KHL? While also giving up another year of $3.25 mil? |

How often does a mutual termination happen in the NHL? - MJL
Especially when that guy is looking forward to a $2.5M signing bonus on July 1, 2025.
If a termination is gonna happen, it won't happen until after that is paid out. |

Flyers make the Playoffs
Couturier returns to form
Drysdale plays 82 games
Torts decides to stay on for his final season with the intent of not coaching anymore after the contract is done - xShoot4WarAmpsx
I wish this could happen. Watching him dominate in the O Zone was just fun to see.

Bold Predictions
Coots puts up 65 points and stays relatively healthy all season.
Michkov scores 25 and 35
Kolosov is the starter by seasons end. - MBFlyerfan
Michkov's early career derailed by injuries... Flyers eventually trade him for 2027's version of Luke Schenn.
Is that a bold prediction or would that just be par for the course?

It's not really bold, but I'm going to pencil in 20 G and 30 A for Michkov in his first NHL season (barring injury of course). - Phillywhiteout
Yup, I had this one too. I think he will have a slow start but once he gets rolling he is going to be a consistent offensive threat. |

I like these and want to add one more:
Frost is not healthy scratched the entire season and plays 2C with good players. Frost puts up a career high in points, but is a minus player and Torts still hates him. |

The writing is on the wall for Brink. With Deslauriers playing, Brink seems like the odd man out. - MJL
Oh please, Brink and Deslauries do not impact each other at all. Deslauries is a 4th liner period and will have to beat our Peohling, Cates and Hathaway which will not happen. Brink has to play in the top 9 otherwise he will not make the team and be sent down to the Phantoms.
BTW, I am waiting for your bold predictions! |

What do you mean? Flyers changed nothing up front outside of adding Michkov. - roenick97
Insert Michkov, exit Atkinson. That is a huge upgrade. Then consider Tippet and Foerster still have more ceiling. Add to this TK has nothing to worry about with his new contract and a healthy Drysdale as a roamer, and I think the Flyers will definitely score more goals this year. Now, can they keep the puck out of their net? That is the question. |

The kid has literally not played a single freaking game since being drafted higher than expected 2 months ago. He did not suddenly morph into the second coming of McDavid when the clock struck midnight on his 18th birthday last week.
What has been the overwhelming opinions of the press since the New Era of Orange started?
Everybody loves torts and his tough love. He treats everyone equally.
Danny cares to much about his players so it makes no sense when prospects have issues.
Every draft pick is going on to stardom, every plugger is creating space and the foundation for a Stanley Cup champion.
Comcast is clearly trying to rebrand the Flyers as a successful, and (lol) model franchise, without really changing what they do after the Chuck Fletcher era and are leaning into their core competency, PR. Hell Jonesy hasn't met a microphone or reporter that he doesn't like since this all began. Half the glowing articles are attributed to quotes from him.
Hell Laughton is still the Flyers secret weapon who can't be traded. |

You don't think the following lines are possible?
Tip-Coots-TK
Foerster-Frost-Michkov
Farabee-Poehling-Laughton
ND/AHL 4th Liner guy-Cates-Hathaway
Torts loves Poehling and Laughton. He also seems to have a short leash on Brink. He probably would not play Brink on the 4th line either. |

If the Flyers and RyJo come to an agreement he will be an FA. He would no longer have to continue the injury charade. Again, I know he has a valid injury. I do not think said injury requires surgery and that he could play if he wanted to.
