Ek writing that Donato could be traded soon. I know, I know. Accoring to Ek, Donato's 2M is affordable and he is a good depth player. Dallas and Boston supposedly kicking the tires. But if Swayman signs for 8M+, Boston is up against the cap. The return probably won't be much, but unless a player comes back in the trade, his departure could open a spot for Nazar or Slaggert? - boilermaker100
I wrote earlier that Donato seems like a guy who could go right at the start of the season to a team that needed an injury fill-in. If a young guy shows as ready in pre-season, they might do that.
Guess I think like Ek now.

I think KFC really likes Donato, so I don't think he would give him up for a song unless he felt he had a replacement at Rockford. |

They have a bit of a surplus at forward especially if Nazar has a really nice camp and preseason.
Danato is fine on an energy line. I don't think he has a whole lot of great hockey sense or value in the top 6 but he can certainly do a good job bum slaying.
I'd think a team like the Penguins would be a decent fit as well. Cash strapped just need guys who are going to put up 10-15 goals no one will remember.
I think if they want to continue to maintain their image of really great place for players then getting a guy who isn't in the plan an opportunity to play regularly instead of as part of a rotation is probably a nice thing to do. |

Didn't see the article, but see Wiz's buddy Pronman has Nazar as14th best Hawks prospect, and may play some NHL games as a bottom 6 forward.
Hope he's wrong, don't really get it, guess its click bait |

Saw that too. Tbf, Pronman also had Alex Vlasic a rung lower than Nazar last year in the category of "Might play NHL games" I believe?
As much as Wiz winges about scribes rating prospects, I'll concede he's got a point to a degree. Wheeler seems to be a bit more on point but who knows? I mean besides Elbows of course. |

I saw it too and then closed the article and tried to forget everything I read.
As far as being close to NHL ready, both Korch and Nazar are ahead of Levshunov.
Not sure Nazar has the makings of a bottom 6 dude.
Seems like 3rd line C or 2nd line C/W.
Someone mentioned it a few weeks ago here on the board, Cam Robinson and elite prospects liked Nazar better than Cooley. Doesn't need to mean anything, just throwing it out there as differing opinions from different people. |

Perhaps they wish he was 2 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier....

Heartbreaking news - Johnny Gaudreau and his brother were both killed last night. Sounds like both were struck by a car while riding their bikes.

it's sad to see young folks lose their life this way. It's a reminder just how fragile life is for everyone. Really hate to see it happen. |

The Donato news report regarding his possible value and usage both fir Chicago and another team if he is traded does make sense. I don't want to see Donato traded until the trade deadline, however, for the practical reason how he has a role and a place in our lineup. Yet up to the trade deadline some of our prospects may develop and then one or more prospects could replace Donato
One team similar to the Blackhawks is the Columbus Blue Jackets. Lots of young talent but the team is lacking cohesiveness and their defense needs Werenski to remain healthy and to see a young kid move in and stay on their blueline crew. Although they are hurt badly by Gudreau loss, a player like Donato - who can move up and down the line up - and help young prospect forwards develop as a mentor similar to what Patrik Sharp did in Chicago, well Donati would be an option Waddell, their GM, should consider
I always cheer and love to see kids develop into good NHL players and this is league wide, not just for the beloved Blackhawks. Whatever role Donato plays here or elsewhere, I will be watching and.cheering. Such a tragic story. But that is how life turns. Everyone must just continue to move forward and never forget just treasure the place Gudreua had in their lives. I recall an Interview after last season ended, where Gudreau was excited his childhood friend and new teamatte would be settling in the Columbus metro area as both players embarked on a new life in a new area with their families. Say a prayer for them. |

You know J I'm excited about the prospects that aren't really on the radar of these prospect pundits.
Like Ludwinski, Greene, Hayes, Savoie, Thompson, Lardis, Spellacy, Mustard, Pridham, Misiak, to me role players are just as important as the premium players you have on the team.
Do i expect all of these players to make it, hell no, but I'm sure we will have some nice surprises, maybe even some later picks will be in the mix, exciting times ahead.
To be honest I'm really excited about the Bears this year as well. |

Donato? Someone wants him? Ok- no problem - what are you offering? Others interested in him? Ok best fit and return? Done- Who cares --- he's a good guy but it doesn't really matter.
Gaudreau - I was in shock reading that last night - you don't expect that to happen to anyone so young with a lot of life still ahead of him. 2 mins silence and then soft stick taps- respect. Should never have been this way.

It will be fun and interesting to see prospects develop in Rockford. Watch Icehogs or AHL feed this season and following seasons as well. Hope some prospects make it to the NHL and can be part of bottom lines who outperform the opponent. KD keeps adding nice pieces to the stable of prospects |

Seth Jarvis new deal, according to Frank it's a fascinating deal? - BetweenTheDots
Jarvis' deal is unique because there is some deferred compensation paid at the end of the contract in 2032. The deal was for 63.2M. Divided by the eight years comes out to a 7.9M AAV. But the actual AAV now on the books is 7.5M or 60M over eight years. The other 3.2M (calculating the time value of money) is paid out at the end.
This is supposedly in the CBA and the league has signed off on it. Probably see this a lot more in the future to decrease cap hits.
Daily Faceoff has a good article on it and gives a Draisatil example as to how his new contract could be structured along the same lines.

But doesn't that end up being counted towards the cap in the 9th year? |

According to Daily Faceoff there is no year 9 cap hit. I wonder if this will be addressed in the new CBA in a couple of years.
I bet all the agents and GM's are looking at this closely and will implement similar contracts. Maybe Swayman for example. He can now sign for 8 years at maybe 7MAAV and then pocket several more million at the end of the contract. |

I have feeling the money is going to count against the salary cap, just like a rookies bonus does the following year or in this case once the contract is over.
If not, it's a brilliant move. If not i wonder if McDavid and Draisaitl sign deals like this. Even Bedard since he has all that money from endorsements already? |

Puckpedia also saying the same no cap hit year 9.
I was just thinking maybe Bedard will do a Crosby, $9,800,000 per AAV, hahaha |
