Hopefully they’re able to move one or both of Eller and Accari. Without any trades, and after Crosby and Petterson extensions, Dubas should have $15M+ to fill the final five spots in 2025-2026. |

Wow. Terribly sad news about Johnny Gudreau and his brother. |

I saw the Gaudreau news last night and figured it wasnt true because of how many trolls there were. Cannot believe its true.
Him and his brother dying suddenly like this on the weekend his sister was to be married is an unbelievable tragedy for his family. Cannot imagine it. |

Found out about it this morning instead of last night. I too thought it was a bad rumour that spread like a wild fire until TSN confirmed it. Truly tragic indeed

Yeah. God forbid a guy drives home from the bar after 4 piss beers with a center brake light out. I’ll be back in Ontario in 4 more years. - Grinder47

You never had 2 beers at dinner, then two more and went home at 9 o clock? I’ve never been in a car accident in my life. The guy tried to pass a car that was moving over to avoid Johnny and his brother, then the bumhole tried to pass the car on the right, where he hit the two. Something I would never do, but thank you for virtue signaling. |

Per TopDownHockey, McGroaty has a higher chance of becoming a start than Yager, and an 80% chance of becoming a full NHL vs. Yager's 52%.
While this is all likely to do with McG being 1 year further in development, at this point in time McG has a higher ceiling IMO. - j.boyd919
Yeah, I don't think Top Downs %'s really mean a whole lot. I think they are both sure thing NHLers. McGroaty has something special about him but he is lacking in any standout area. Yager is a better skater and has an elite shot but McGroaty has proven he can produce even if his skill set doesn't flash.
To me, McGroaty falls between a Guentzel and a Rust, which is super high praise. I dont think he will be as good as Jake but who knows. I could easily see him being a complimentary player like Rust who can move up and down and produce but not someone who will drive offence themselves.
Yager I think will end up a really good two way center (some think he will play wing) that can produce good but maybe not elite offence. I think optimistically he could be a Zibanijad type of player but more likely a (healthy) Trochek.
IMO, the biggest thing hurting Yager is his WHL status. If he was playing in the NCAA, I dont think Dubas pulls the trigger. But if he wasnt going to make the NHL this year, I really believe going back to Jr really hampers development. There is a huge advantage to being a 19 yo in the NCAA where you are more regimented and you are working with a S&C coach and a full athletic training staff.
I am hoping we find a way to get Yager back in a trade, I'd love to have both of these guys. |

Terrible news about Johnny Hockey. It’s not hard to call a cab. Those $20 could save a life and keep you from ruining yours. |

Seth Jarvis deferred money contract.
The annual average value of the contract would traditionally be $7.9 million, but the Hurricanes will award Jarvis a deferred-money signing bonus on July 1, 2032 - the day after the contract expires - to lower the cap hit. The max-term pact includes a total of $29.24 million in bonuses.
NHL central registry and the NHLPA signed off on the structure of the contract, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli notes.

Didn't know the NHL did this kind of cap "magic" stuff. Seems very NFLish. In the world of non-stop money printing, I don't think I'd defer any of my salary. I'm sure he's charging a healthy premium for it. |

Somebody is going to sign a Bobby Bonilla contract and then this whole thing will get killed in the next CBA. |

Reading a few articles about our depth this morning. Made me wonder if they are going to shop Pettersson at the Trade deadline. They believe Graves will have a better year so I assume maybe they believe he could fit in with Letang or Karlsson. I believe they think the same about Grzelcyk as a potential 2nd pairing D. I read they brought Knyzhov in because he does have a history of pairing with Karlsson. Makes it sound like they are loading up so when they trade Pettersson they already have their solution. Which honestly if they trade Pettersson I am going to be disappointed unless it's for JT Miller or someone like him (which was the proposed deal a few years ago). I think if the Miller trade happened this team would be in a lot better shape both last year and this year. |

Pettersson for Miller would not have this team in a better shape, Pettersson is a top pairing stay at home defenseman, we have 1 of those on the roster, trading him would mean we have zero of those on our roster.

This all reads as why a lot of people around here wanted Tulsky to be GM of Pens and Dubas be Prez |
