what I appreciate about this response is, as a fellow flyers fan, you simply corrected him and we can all move forward with a reasonable discussion.
there are folks here that would not let this go and spend 3-4 pages attempting to insult one of the few posters that legit want to have a discussion.
EDIT: i will also dial it back a bit since today so far has been cordial (except for me of course - LAME!) - anti-lame
This is why I’m fly-by-night places like this. Well, and the internet in general.
Nobody’s ego can take the slightest of hits, even when the other person is being helpful.
And it’s true. The response was respectful. |

And folks think we ruined him. I don’t agree and I wish we kept him but I get why he wanted out (I do think the pride thing played a factor). in his eyes, the grass is always greener. Until you go to Columbus lol
Torts liked him so it wasn’t that. Just imagine Provy still on this squad, chumming it up with Michkov and kolosov… oh well
If I were him I’d probably regret leaving but that’s me. - anti-lame
Provorov should absolutely regret leaving. |

i never want to see the team fail but yes this would be a nice outcome to add onto our plethora of draft picks.
unrelated, but i wonder if Kolosov listened to Zamula and forced the teams hand. Za straight up said play me or I'm out and they found him a spot. there's no reason Koloso couldn't be the starter in LHV and get some NHL games if there's an injury. - anti-lame
The thing is, Kolosov will get a good chance to play. At a minimum he would be the starter for the Phantoms and get to learn from an experienced NHL goalie in Petersen. Also there is no guarantee that Fedotov will work out or there is an injury, so there would be a chance Kolosov would get a call-up if he was playing well for the Phantoms. And to combat the home sickness, if that is truly an issue, he can invite his family to come over, as Michkov did. Right now I just think this entire saga does not make sense. |

The only counter I have is when were these opinions where formulated. Buium to me with be a similar defenseman to York, which is really good. Luchenko really was a late in the season bloomer so I really don't think his projections were updated based on his 2nd half performance. I believe he is going to have a monster year and you will see his projection move to a 1C if he does. This happened with Bonk also. Bonk was projected by some to be a 2nd round pick with potential to be a 2nd pairing defenseman. Now after his +1 season, redrafts would put him into the top 10 of that draft class and he has been projected by some to be a 1st pairing RHS defenseman. - jd250
The projections were probably made sometime around the draft obviously. I think you're placing way too much value on the expected uptick in production that Luchanko may put up. He was drafted at 17. It is expected that he would do that. It's not necessarily automatically going to change his future potential.
I don't think you're at all correct about Bonk now being projected to be a 1st pairing NHL defenseman.

Exactly! And I have no doubt the Flyers playing hardball with Johansen has something to do with the relationship between Briere and Overhardt. I think Briere would like nothing more than to stick it to Overhardt. And I don't blame Briere for plassing on Buium for exactly the reasons you mention. First if he was really that good he would have not been the 6th defenseman drafted, and clearly after what happened with Gauthier, Briere had to factor that into his decision whether or not to draft Buium. - jd250
If any of that actually factored in, Briere or whoever was involved in the decision, should be immediately fired.
How the draft played out has been explained to you numerous times.

Cam York was really good last season, and will only get better this season. he was definitely the right pick for the Flyers in that draft. - jd250
Really good is a stretch. He was solid and improved. Still has a ways to go to be the player that many think he is.

What was Nolan Patrick’s consensus versus Heiskanen, Makar and Pettersson? I wanted the Flyers to take Buium but the folly of that draft should do away with citing consensus from publications with no stock in the game. - psuhockey
Drafting is never an exact science. Sakic was pissed when he missed out on Heiskanen and got stuck having to draft Makar.
When there is a large gap between the upside of two choices, that consensus always has to be considered when making a judgement now. BASED ON WHAT WE KNOW NOW, the Flyers made the wrong pick. If we take them at their word, for the wrong reasons.

Chances are unless he was playing terribly. It would be more likely that Petersen would be called up rather than Kolosov.

He had to go, he wanted out and his play was suffering. He wanted to play the game his way, not the way the flyers wanted him to play. He played well for Columbus to bad the team is bare bones everywhere other than Defense

Flyers have some crazy options they can do at the draft,
Draft 3 1st, 3 2nd, 1 3rd picks which would net 7 players
or
Draft 3 1st rounds picks in the top 15 , Our 1st, (trade Col 1st, Phi 2nd, Phi 3rd, and move into the top 15)(trade Edm 1st, Ana 2nd, Col 2nd, and move into the top 12).
So either draft and take 7 players or Make moves and draft 3 top end players?
Which move would you do, and why? |

Why is that more likely? He was the undisputed #2 behind Ersson and they refused to play him because he was do bad.
Unless Petersen is having a great year in the ahl Kolosov is probably their first choice. Especially to get the guy some nhl experience. I wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers kept Luchenko up with the team for a few games before sending him back to juniors if he has a strong camp. Give him the 9 games

If a young player like Kolosov is playing well in the AHL, they wouldn't be likely to want to interrupt that and have him playing part time in the NHL. If he was playing poorly, they wouldn't call him up.
Luchanko just turned 18. There is little chance they do that. He is a very small player who needs a lot of maturing.

It is an interesting thesis, to compare internal drafts with scouts with skin in the game (aka, actual picks) with 'consensus' rankings pre-draft by external observers (McKenzie, Pronman, Elite) etc.
1. We look at external rankings and come up with a way to define consensus.
2. We look at actual picks.
3. We look at some agreed upon way to measure worth of a player (ppg separately for forwards and D or a composite metric like WAR or something). We rank that in a list as well.
Then we see which of lists 1 or 2 correlates best with 3.

Rush is the greatest band of all time!! I have seen them 82 times in concert, and I am lightweight fan compared to some. - jd250 Damn, I'm embarrassed to say that I only saw them 3 times. Although the one time was from 11 rows back (thanks ex g/f) on The Moving Pictures tour at the Spectrum! Neil Peart drum solo was absolutely mesmerizing! Triumph was also a very good Canadian band that flew under the radar for some reason. Saw them at the Spectrum a couple years after my first Rush show and while there were differing styles Truimph was quite impressive. Rik Emmett flies under the radar as one of the best guitarists that no one has ever heard of. He was also mesmerizing that night! |

I've seen them 25 times. One of my best memories is being able to take my daughter to see the R40 show because I knew it would probably be the only chance she would ever get to see them. She fell asleep halfway through the second set as she was only 8.

I saw Rush in Sarnia, Ontario after the big 2010 playoff run. I went on a whim just because I wanted to tag along with some buddies. I wasn’t a Rush fan until I saw them live. You can call me faithless. They were incredible and I loved them ever since. |

never got to see Rush, only saw Primus during the farewell to kings tour where they played the album in it’s entirety |

That's great about the Schultz book and what is also great, is after a quick scan, I didn't notice any bickering or insults today!
Also, awesome to hear some of you saw Rush and Triumph live! I could never afford concerts but those are 2 I'd like to see. Heard about Triumph but didn't know much about them till someone on here mentioned them a few years ago. Definitely an underrated band! |

Highly doubt it. Tweet and incident dont line up to me. He says him and family members passed in a freak accident. Getting struck by a car isnt a freak accident plus only one other person was killed, so family members makes no sense |

I hope not.
What has been reported locally and what so far has been confirmed by the local police is that indeed two bicyclist were killed and struck by a car in Salem County. Supposedly not far from his parents house. Rumour going 'round (at least what I read on Reddit, like that's a 100% reliable source as much as Twitter) he was in town for his sister's wedding.
Until it's confirmed by officials and reported by a more reputable source, I'm praying it turns out to be just a sick rumour perpetrated by sick peoples' need for clicks and likes. And if that turns out to be the case, then I'll be angry. Also note that the police never mentioned if the driver has been suspected of driving under the influence, just that they stayed on the scene (no mention if they cooperated or not). So until that has also been confirmed, I'll also reserve anger for that.
Even if it's not him and his brother, it's sad for those that died and their loved ones are now forever devastated and heartbroken. |
